Kano Pillars secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over Niger Tornadoes in their EuroMatch Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matchday two encounter at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Sunday.
The hosts took control of the contest in the first half, with Ubong Friday and Fabian Nworie finding the back of the net to give Pillars a two-goal advantage.
Nworie grabbed his second of the game nine minutes after the restart to extend Kano Pillars’ lead to 3-0.
Niger Tornadoes, however, mounted a spirited fightback, with Godfrey Joseph and Wasiu Jimoh reducing the deficit.
The visitors pushed for an equaliser in the closing stages but Kano Pillars held firm to claim maximum points.

At the New Jos Stadium, Plateau United recorded their first victory of the season with a narrow 1-0 win over Kwara United.
Alex Aghahowa scored the decisive goal in the 29th minute to hand the Peace Boys all three points.
In Lafia, Nasarawa United also secured a 1-0 victory over Bendel Insurance.
Sam Pam struck the winner in the 55th minute as the Solid Miners edged the closely contested encounter.
Elsewhere, Kun Khalifat FC and Barau FC battled to a goalless draw at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.
