Sporting Lagos head coach Jeffrey Buter has been fined N500,000 by the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, over comments made following his side’s local derby against Ikorodu City.
Buter was sanctioned after admitting that he erred in his post-match interview, where he made remarks concerning the officiating during the encounter.
In arriving at its decision, the NPFL also considered the young coach’s limited experience in the league.

Buter was invited to Abuja by the league body on Wednesday to clarify the statement, and explain his comments.
The Sporting Lagos tactician has seven working days to pay the N500,000 fine, failing which he could face further sanctions.
The NPFL also warned coaches and club officials against making reckless or inflammatory statements, urging them to channel complaints through the appropriate official procedures.
