Europa League: Iwobi Subbed On In Arsenal Win Vs Napoli,  Chukwueze Suffers Defeat With Villarreal

Alex Iwobi played as a substitute as Arsenal defeated Italian side  Napoli 2-0 in the first leg of their Europa League, quarter-final tie at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday.

 

Iwobi replaced Alexandre Lacazette in the 67th minute of the highly entertaining encounter.

 

It was his ninth appearance in the competition for the Gunners this season . He has scored once and recorded two assists.

 

Aaron Ramsey opened scoring for Arsenal in the 14th minute,  while Kalidou Koulibaly conceded an own goal five minutes before half hour mark to double Arsenal’s advantage.

 

At the Estadio de la Cerámica,  Samuel Chukwueze featured for 90 minutes in Villarreal’s 3-1 home loss to fellow Spanish outfit Valencia.

 

Gonzalo Guedes put Valencia ahead in the sixth minute,  while Santi Carzola equalised for the hosts from the spot nine minutes before the break.

 

Daniel Wass and Guedes struck late in the game to hand the visitors the advantage going into the second leg next week.

 

Chukwueze has now featured in eight Europa League games for the Yellow Submarines this season,  with one goal and one assist to his name.

 

In Prague,  Peter Olayinka was on for 82 minutes in his Czech side, Slavia Prague 1-0 home loss to Chelsea.

 

Marcos Alonso scored the decisive strike four minutes from time to hand the Blues the win.

 

Benfica also defeated German club Eintracht Frankfurt 4-2 in their quarter-final tie.
