Europa League Qualifier: Alampasu In Action, Suffers Heavy Home Defeat Vs Rosenborg

Nigeria goalkeeper Dele Alampasu was in goal for 10-man Latvian club Ventspils who lost 5-1 at home to Norwegian side Rosenborg, in the Europa League second round qualifiers on Thursday, Completesports.com reports.

Also in action for Ventspils was former Rangers and Enyimba forward Christian Pyagbara.

The result means Ventspils have been eliminated in this season’s Europa League.

Ventspils took the lead as early as the fifth minute through Yevgeni Kozlov before goals from Dino Islamovic (brace), Anders Konradsen, Carlo Holse and Kristoffer Zachariasson secured the comfortable win for Rosenborg.

In the 63rd minute Ventspils had a player sent off after Dmitrijs Litvinski was shown a straight red card.

Ventspils have now lost back-to-back games following Saturday’s 2-0 home defeat in the league.

They are currently fifth on 26 points in the 10-team Latvian topflight league.

Alampasu, 23, joined Ventspils in February 2020, after unsuccessful spells at Portuguese clubs Feirense and Cesarense.

  • …But but but; he surpose to be in the national team….

    Hahahahahaha

  • Oakfield 4 years ago

Lol….. Yes nah… Some dy say make dem invite him first then he’ll perform. Na so their small coconut head reason them. Some would even fault their defense line as the reason for the huge concession. Dumb ass brains. Y’all can see that there isn’t any keeper at the moment better than what we have. There’s still a lot of room for improvement for these young lads. They just need to take the time and improve themselves and not be in a rush. Their time shall come. And again, the media should take it I easy with their usual pr stunts that is very detrimental to these boys’ careers respectively.

So Oga Mumu Oakfield, As Ter-Stergen concede 8 goals from Bayern Munich, Does that make him a bad keeper…so bad not to be invited to German National team??? Last time I checked he was even invited for Germany EURO League games probably even played in one alongside Neur

  • Larry 4 years ago

@Lloyd, you are spot-on. Uzoho who is currently the first choice of SE is not even considered for bench role in his team’s game. He has not played a game since recovery and has conceded similar number of goals for his previous team. The same set of fans that has no problem with Uzoho will question Dele.
Okoye has not played a competitive game for a first division side but the same set of fans sees him as a messiah and sees Dele who is playing European competition as not good enough for SE.
On current form Mathew Yahaya,Osigwe, and Dele Alampasu are the most active Nigerian goalkeepers in Europe.
These goalkeepers should be given a chance in SE.

Thanks my bro@Larry. You know all this Drey bon-boys don’t like to reason well before following there Master.

Alampasu, Osigwe are active in there respective team. Osigwe facing Inter. Alampasu featuring in Europa qualifiers yet it is Okoye that has not played one single senior league game for years and Akpeyi that they rate as the World best goal-keepers. Sense is needed here. Even Uzoho is warming up to settle for APOEL second choice this season cuz he was fit when they played there Europa qualifier game too but he was not even listed in the team. Truth be told to anyone who cares to know, Alampasu, Osigwe, Yakubu are the Top 3 Goalies we have at the moment.

@larry, Pls can u come with undisputeable facts and show us where uzoho conceeded 5 clear goals at a stretch and mind u I never said they weren’t good. My position was and will always be that those young lads: okoye, alampasu, osigwe need to keep there head low and and continue to improve. Their time will surely come.

  • Well…osigwe too conceded same number of goals against inter last week.God no go shame us o!

  • Perhaps home based goal keepers are the solution to the goal keeping challenge we have in the super eagles.
To be honest, im not confident in the abilities of okoye, alampasu, osigwe or akpeyi. Try out some home based keepers first lets see what they can do.

You guys are talking about goalies without mentioning the goal keepers trainer?

The goal keeper trainers are good as well as the goal keepers they have in their disposal period.

During the peter Rufai, Ike Shorunmu, Enyeama and Ikeme time, we were confident enough that we had world goalies in our team.

Enyeama was not that fantastic when he started keeping for Eagles but in the end, he became a world class golie.

I am seeing the same thing with Uzoho, Okoye, Alanpasun and Osagwe. These are among the best keepers we have at the moment and they are young and ready to learn from their trainers but it have to be from young trainers who knows how to use modern techniques when working with young ones
    .

Only the young trainers can bring the best out of these goalies.

Enyeama and Ikeme are the best to work with our young goalkeepers.

Or Peter Rufai and Ike Shorunmu.

Can we compare the young Cameroonian golie Onana to our young goalies?

Onana is like Idris Kanemi. So, we have no excuse to say our keepers are very young that is why coach Agu can not find solutions to the goal keeping dependent. Onana is very young too.

By now, we shouldn’t be talking about goalies but the entire team. We should be boasting that we have a world class squad.

It is never too late though.
I still believe that if we have young trainers in charge of goal keeping department,
Okoye and other young keepers will do better than what they have done before now.

Who should we blame for not have world class goalkeepers between NFF, coach Agu and Oga Rohr?

It is a big shame that the Nigerian football Federation failed to hired a qualified coach to be with the team as a goalkeeper trainer.

We are happy and boasting that we have good players but without the best quality goalies Super Eagles is nothing.

I hope we still remembered the saga that Akpeyi have cursed Nigeria when we played against Algeria at the Afcon in Egypt?

Have we learned from that pain? I don’t think so. So, what are the coaches of the Super Eagles are building if they can not find a better replacement for Ikeme?

How long did it take Olishe to find Ikeme?
Just a simple question ni o.

Still, they will come here on CSN to attack we patriotic Nigerians that we are telling NFF and their employees what to do? Seriously?

They will keep attacking us as if they were Obafemi Martins and Agahowa lol.

However, I have been quoting this section 419 of my constitution for Oga Rohr, Oga Agu and their followers but they turned their ears. Chai, who does that?

If na true you know football wela, kai, October is almost here. If we don’t see any difference between now and in the past then, I will tell NFF the truth. For now, I can only wish Oga Rohr and his crew the best.

Nigeria deserves the best and total football and as long as we are getting that, hmmm, I’m satisfied. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!

Oga omo9ja, point of correction, enyeama was in top form when he started keeping for the eagles. He didn’t learn the ropes when he was invited. In fact, He was the first choice keeper of enyimba fc and the best in the domestic league at the time and when he was eventually called upon to perform (at the right time), he gave a very good and distinctive account of himself against england during the 2002 Japan/Korea world cup and conceded no single goal against an English team that paraded some of the best players at the mundial. Pls, take it easy with your lies and remember, any player being called upon to wear the green has to be of proven quality just as enyeama etc were. The eagles is not a football academy. We are talking about the super eagles of nigeria and not a football academy.

    @oakfield, here is the link.

Uzoho conceded and was responsible for five goals in a division 2 match.
I’m not saying Uzoho is a bad GK but considering the criteria used for the invitation of players, Dele, Osigwe and Mathew deserve to be ahead of current set of SE GKs.
We are all hoping for the best for SE, but same yardstick should be apply for players invotation.
Currently, we have the players that can match SE best squad of 93-98.
Looking forward to the list of players invited for the next game. It’s really an interesting situation!!

  • Larry 4 years ago

@oakfield, as requested I shared the link to confirm my earlier comment about Uzoho conceding five goals in a division 2 match. I hope we can put to rest the matter of GK not deserving of SE invitation due to goals conceded.

Ok. I’ve tried to read the content but it’s not opening but nevertheless, the up coming young lads need to keep focus and continue to improve whilst waiting for the right time to be thrown Into the big stage. It’s really not a good idea to use the senior national team as a place where players are groomed or more or less like an academy. Enyeama was already an established keeper before he took the stage. He was the first choice keeper of Enyimba and the best in our domestic league at the time. Uzoho was given the opportunity as a result of circumstances (as ikeme left a huge vacuum, no thank to leukemia) and left us with no choice but to choose him (Uzo) otherwise, ikeme would have still been our number one while Uzoho would be second to him learning the ropes and garnering all the experience he needs in the process. However, he Uzoho, has risen to the challenge despite the fact that the transition was so abrupt. He grabbed the opportunity with both hands and has since justified his position as the best we have at the moment. Others should up their game in order to give him the fierce competition that he needs.

Alampasu will never be taken seriously as long as he stays in Latvia. Assuming the Nigeria Professional Football League functions regularly, he even has a better chance of playing for the Super Eagles if he is playing for Eyimba. At least, he will be seen as a successor to Ezenwa in the homebased Super Eagles which will almost certainly guarantee him the slot of the main Super Eagles as the number 3.

  • Osigwe was in action yesterday as lugano defeated fc Luzern 2:1 .The young man really tried.wish him all in the best!
