Europa League Qualifiers: Oboabona Seeks Divine Favours Ahead Hapoel Beer Sheva Clash

Former Super Eagles defender Godfrey Oboabona has seeked divine intervention for his Georgian side Dinamo Batumi ahead of their opening game in the first qualifying round of the Europa League, Completesports.com reports.

Dinamo Batumi will take on Israeli side Hapoel Beer Sheva in the first stage of Europe’s second-tier club competition.

The game is one among a host of Europa League fixtures scheduled for Thursday.

And looking ahead to the game, the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winner wrote on his Twitter handle:”As we begin our Europa League campaign today against Israel’s Hapoel Be’er Sheva, dear Lord we pray for victory that we may progress to the next round.”

In 1995, Dinamo Batumi played in European competitions for the first time in the club’s history.

During the 1995–96 UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup Dinamo Batumi defeated FK Obilić in the qualifying round, but later were eliminated by Celtic.

They managed to draw with PSV Eindhoven in the following season of UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup.

Oboabona joined Dinamo Batumi in February from Croatian side Gorica.

  • Na wah ohhh, this the guy have been looking for, a rock solid defender at the 2013 ANC for Keshi, can someone tell what  make this dude not to have been a great defender that he suppose to? Playing in Croatia and Georgia is never what this guy deserve, luck and agents sometimes can have negative impact on an athlete.

my guy i concur with you oh. i love this guy those days even more than omeruo. solid defender with great ball sense. his footwork was so perfect for a defender to an extent he could play as DM. rohr should recall him to displace that smallboy awaziem. who inexperience and mistakes are almost unevitable

the selfless effort he put in the touch line save in ethiopia is still runing in my mind .the fact that he is a left footer defender makes him unique and usefull to us, as far as the rest of our centre backs are all right wheel drive. most of the goals rohr concieved are coming from that left part. i will plead with rohr to re open this mans page in the eagles.

Good luck man. A great defender to reckon with. Thank God keshi added you to the national team while still a home base player. And you grabbed the opportunity with both hands.

  • Some People and their senseless way of reasoning. How could an Oboabona better than Awaziem now. Must u talk or comment on every headline on complete sports? With every respect to Oboabona he has paid his due and passed his time in super eagles. Some of them will be talking as if they re d coach, invite this invite that, how many players will he invite at a time gan? Haba u na wahala too much. I have been reading people mentioning due different names for the super eagles midfield like Ejiara,Ejuke,Eze etc.. Leaving out already established players I just shake my head for them but one thing I belief is that no coach will ever do that so u can mention names till tomorrow Mr Rohr will give us what is best.
