Everton Coach Silva Believes Gomes Will Return From Injury This Season

Everton coach, Marco Silva has said that there is a possibility of Andre Gomes’ return before the end of the season after suffering a terrible injury sustained against Tottenham.

Gomes suffered a gruesome fractured dislocation to his ankle after a challenge from Son Heung-min during their Premier League encounter on Sunday.

Speaking to pressmen ahead of the Toffees clash with Southampton, Silva said: ‘It is not easy for us to give a sure date about when Andre Gomes will return.

‘It is possible we will see him playing again this season.’

On Sunday evening, Everton had released a statement which said that Gomes would undergo surgery on Monday, before later confirming at the operation was a success. It is not certain when he would return.

The player has also gone ahead to thank fans for their continued support and love. In a video released on Twitter, the former Barcelona man said: ‘Hi everyone, as you already know everything went well. ‘I’m already at home with my family and I would like to thank you all for the support, messages and positive energy. Thank you.’

On the other hand, Silva has come under intense pressure lately after starting the campaign on a low note. Gomes’ injury would come as a big blow as they 17th on the Premier League table with 11 points.
