Everton Without Jagielka For Saints Clash

Club captain Phil Jagielka has been ruled out of Everton’s trip to Southampton on Saturday after suffering an injury in training. The 36-year-old has only featured in the matchday squad five times in the Premier League since Marco Silva took charge, so it was debatable whether or not he would have travelled to St Mary’s anyway before suffering a knock.
Silva has no other injury concerns to contend with and could keep faith with the majority of the team that started last week’s win over Bournemouth.
Ademola Lookman could start back-to-back league games for the first time since February 2017 after a good showing against the Cherries.
Silva says he will keep faith with Richarlison up front despite the Brazilian forward’s recent struggles in front of goal, with the club-record signing failing to find the back of the net in his last five games. “Richarlison can play out wide or as a striker, now he is playing more as a striker,” said Silva. “I know every three or four matches he doesn’t score, the same conversation will come again. “I know he hasn’t scored since Boxing Day but he is a possibility to play as a striker, like with Cenk (Tosun) or Dominic (Calvert-Lewin). We have the three plus Oumar (Niasse), if he doesn’t leave (on loan to Cardiff), and I will decide the best solution as to who will play in that position. “What I can say is he feels as comfortable in that position as he does playing out wide, it is the same for him, and it is up to us to decide.”
