Exclusive: 2022 WCQ: Underestimate Liberia, Cape Verde At Your Peril -Tijani Warns Eagles

Former Nigerian midfielder, Tijani Babaginda has called on the Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr not to underestimate Liberia and Cape Verde in the forthcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Nigeria lead Group C with nine points, two ahead of second-place Cape Verde while Liberia sit third on four points. The Super Eagles are scheduled to face Liberia’s Lone Star on November 13 and then host the Cape Verde on November 16.

The Eagles will hope to do the business against the Liberians on the lush Grand Stade de Tanger to book their slot in the last set of CAF qualifiers that will hold in March 2022.

However, Tijani in an interview with Completesports.com warned the team to be cautious and not play to the gallery against Liberia.

He said that with the arsenal in Rohr’s disposal, the team should be able to pick the maximum point and qualify for the final qualifying stages of the World Cup.

“To br frank, the Super Eagles must be very careful with the Liberians because they still believe they have something to play for in the group. Again, Nigeria must avoid underestimating the Lone Stars if we must pick the maximum point. The same thing also apply to Cape Verde as well. Let’s avoid the mistake we made against the Central Africa Republic (CAR).

“However, based on the players in Rohr’s disposal, I really don’t think there should be any problem if the team play to win. It’s a must win for the team and I know we will win.”

  • imagine people from other nations reading Complete Sport. The journalist don’t even know the correct date for the two matches. The match against Liberia is 13th of November while the other match is on 16th of November.

    God, please heal this country.

You need eyeglasses. Wouldn’t have been better to make a comment concerning the writeup? For me, Tijiani’s advise is in order and it’s left for Rohr and his team to listen.
