Exclusive: 2022 World Cup Qualifiers: Rohr Has Invited A Formidable Squad To Face Liberia, Cape Verde – Aikhomogbe

Former Nigerian goalkeeper, Andrew Aikhomogbe believes Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr has named a formidable squad capable of beating Liberia and Cape Verde in the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Recall that on Thursday, the German tactician invited called up 30 players for next month’s opening rounds of qualifiers, with notable names such as Wilfred Ndidi, Paul Onuachu, Kelechi Iheanacho, Joe Aribo, Maduka Okoye, Leon Balogun, Ahmed Musa, Alex Iwobi, Victor Osimhen and few others.

The Super Eagles will begin their Group C challenge against West African rivals Liberia on September 3 at the Teslim Balogun Stadium before travelling to Cape Verde four days later.

Rohr picked a strong team for the two matches which include seven players that would replace the UK-based stars if the British government does not grant them an exemption for the trip to Cape Verde, a red-listed country in their coronavirus watch.

However, Aikhomogbe, in a chat with Completesports.com from his base in Cairo, Egypt, revealed that with the calibre of players invited by Rohr, the Super Eagles will pick the maximum point in the two matches.

“I must confess that that Gernot Rohr has relly invited a very formidable squad to prosecute the 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Liberia and Cape Verde.

“After thoroughly looking at the squad, I really don’t think there is any missing link, most especially with the invitation of Frank Onyeka to the team, which I believe will serve as a perefct replacement for Wilfred Ndidi.

“In all, Liberia and Cape Verde have no hiding place because the Super Eagles will definitely show them how football is been played.”

You are missing the point sir. We have so many fantastic players to choose from which is very true but the main thing is, how to organize the team based on our opponents, the tactics that requires, time management, when and how to sub when needed is what Nigerians are talking about.

Super Eagles coaches doesn’t have the requirements it takes to deliver these qualities.

If Nigeria win in both matches, it’s by the efforts of our players not the coaches.

I am pretty sure of what am talking about.

I don’t hate Oga Rohr nor Oga Agu but it’s all about our national team, Super Eagles of Nigeria because, I love Super Eagles too much. We deserved more than what we are getting from the Coaches.

The current Super Eagles coaches are not superb and not strong enough to compete against discipline, organize and well technically sound team.

Sierra Leone team under studies our team during the first half of the match when we played against them and they changed tactics in the second half of the encounter and we all saw the result. That is what I call a world class coach .

A coach that can read game. A coach that not rigidi.

We have four midfielders why? Converting players just any how as if we don’t have players?

“After thoroughly looking at the squad, I really don’t think there is any missing link, most especially with the invitation of Frank Onyeka to the team, which I believe will serve as a perefct replacement for Wilfred Ndidi.

    Mba sir. There’s sir.

That Nwakali is the missing link in that squad. A player that can distribute ball without fear or stress from any where on the pitch?

“In all, Liberia and Cape Verde have no hiding place because the Super Eagles will definitely show them how football is been played.”

    Hmmm. Really? Super Eagles didn’t
show Cameroon, SierraLeone, Algeria, and Madagascar how football is been played Sir.

Did you know why Eagles were struggling against those teams sir?

Super Eagles doesn’t have what it takes to deliver and I don’t think they can lead Super Eagles to the promised land.

We qualified to the last world cup due to our experienced team. Mikel, Ighalo, Balogun and Moses were the main reasons we made our world cup ticket.

However, do you think we can build a solid team we all can be proud of under Oga Rohr and Oga Agu? I don’t think so.

If you are in doubt, here is a clear and simple example sir. What is Akpeyi is doing in that team? Oh oooo, now you understand wella sir.

The technical crew of those teams I mentioned above took their time to study how each of the Super Eagles players play and they made their plans and it works for them.

God forbid , don’t be surprised if Nigerian team looks like an ordinary team when the time comes.

It has happened recently against Cameroon. They said lack of motivation was the main reason. Excuses bla bla bla, come on, they forget that you can’t give what you don’t have?

Here is the solution if truly Nigerians wants to see good quality football from our darling Super Eagles.

The technical crew of Oga Rohr needed to be discarded for reprocessing.

Why? We are Nigeria, we have players and he failed to build a team.

Algerian coach wasted no time to inject new ideas into the same team Oga Rohr team beaten 4-1 in Nigeria during the last world cup qualifiers. In the end, Algeria won the last Afcon in Egypt and Nigerian team were beaten twice not once from this Algerian team.

That shows that the gaffers have reaching their destination. They can not go beyond this level.

NFF can give him another 10 years to put this team together, we are still going to say the same story.

Another option is this, NFF can hire him an expert to compliments Oga Rohr’s efforts but who be responsible for his services? NFF or Oga Rohr?

Why are we deceiving ourselves in this country like this kę?

Hmmmm. Am lost for words now but a word is enough for the wise. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!

What’s your problem with Akpeyi? You better think well and retract the evil words you’ve poured out to that child of God before you are consumed by fire! You are warned. You can’t think that all is well when you are mounting an unsubstantiated campaign to bring someone down, and a child of God for that matter. Akpeyi performed creditably well in AFCON 2019. You can’t hang him because of that Mahzreh’s shot!

  • “If Nigeria win in both matches, it’s by the efforts of our players not the coaches” After reading this paragraph, I lost hope in your ability to recover from dillusional ailments

Hahahaha Ola…it has always been by the efforts of our players not the coaches…..LMAOOoo. It is only when we loose it no longer becomes the efforts of the players. Rohr has only worked the 11 or thereabout times we have lost in 5 years…..LMAOooo.

Comon sense as never been as comon as it sounds

Omo9ja, if Nigeria win both matches as you said, IS IT NOT THE PLAYERS THE COACH INVITED THAT WILL PLAY AND WIN THOSE MATCHES? That means the coach has done something right by inviting the right players, do you agree? This point is valid, because we know coaches in the past have invited players based on other reasons apart from merit. Rohr is inviting players based on merit. Apart from 1 or 2 invitees, most of them deserve to be invited.
Rohr will not fail to qualify us for the world cup, based on his track record. If he fails, it will be a major surprise.
However, if he fails, NFF DO NOT have the moral right to condemn him. How can you condemn an employee you are owing for not doing his job?
The list is a good list. It is impossible to satisfy every Nigeria football fan. What nobody can argue about is that most of the invited players represent the very best that we have worldwide.

Omo9ja, I want to ask you a question.
When last did Cameroon beat Nigeria in a competitive match?
How many of this teams you mention have beaten the super eagles in a competitive match under GR apart from Algeria?
Am highly disappointed at you. It’s obvios that you hate this coach but sorry you can’t do anything

  • @omonija I finally give up on your matter, most annoying part is you declaring you don’t hate the gaffer? Are you for real?

  • Eagles Beware. It will not be easy.
