Former Nigerian goalkeeper, Dosu Joseph believes the Super Eagles have what it takes to overcome Sierra Leone in Thursday’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Recall that the last time both teams met, the Leone Stars came from behind to draw 4-4 with Nigeria during the 2021 AFCON qualifiers.
However, in an interview with Completesports.com, the Atlanta Olympic gold medalist stated that the Super Eagles under Jose Peseiro will take Sierra Leone to the cleaner this time around.
“I really don’t think the Super Eagles players will want a repeat of their 4-4 draw against Sierra Leone, knowing fully the expectations from Nigerians after the team failed to qualify for Qatar 2022 World Cup.

“I want to believe the team has what it takes to defeat Sierra Leone at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja.
” This is a new beginning under Jose Peseiro and I am sure he would have told the players what he expect from them, a victory and nothing more.”

Storyyy-storryy- storyyyyyy! A team being handled by Mr. 1 in 10 (1 win in 10 matches). He has no track record of success in his career with both clubs and national teams. He has already two defeats in his course with our team. The two teams he struggled with, were well beaten in their consequent games, especially Mexico lost to Uruguay by a three goal margin. Anyway l pray he will be able to change that with us. This Sierra Leone team is no push over as we know them 4-4 draw in Nigeria and 0-0 away. Underrating them will be at our own peril.
Dosu please let us wait and see. I beg you. you are part of the present free fall we are experiencing
They have started talking again. Is there any team in Africa which can be “brushed aside”? You guys should be humble for once and respect your opponents. Even Brazilians don’t talk this way. Until you learn to respect your opponents, you will always be disappointed. I remember one sports minister who boasted that Nigeria will beat the hell out of Ghana, we all know what happened. Football has changed over the years and the gap has narrowed. Only Nigerians don’t realize that, hence the many unnecessary heartbreaks.
The fault, in this case, is that of the journalist. DOSU never said those words.
I am not sure if you read the article before jumping to conclusions and starting the generalization. It would have been great if you waited to read responses before passing judgment.
I can equally insult you but I won’t glorify your stupidity. What is insulting about what I wrote for you to be so angry? People like you are the reasons why there’s always that seeming animosity between ghana and Nigeria. Who are u to tell me to leave here. Do you own the page or your father? I’m in a good mood today like you go smell pepper. Kwasiato!
This has to stop this unnecesaary mouth How in the hell can you write such a Arrogant Heading to a write up.. I did not see anywhere Dosu said we will brush aside Siera Leone rather it is the CSN reporters who seems to think ball is played with the mouth. After the humbling we recieved from Ghana which i can see has not sunk into some numskulls on CSN crew. what soryt of underestimating the opponent is this??? and Opponent who came back form 4 goals down to draw level with us and held us to a goaless draw in there own backyard in the reverse fixture?. When will we start at least being more Humble?. I think this Ghana Man @Yaw is right football has changed and the gaps have narrowed and yes Nigeria clearly has not realized that ATOOOOOOOOOOOOL!!! hence we will still make such mouth even knowing that we are living in the clouds. but it makes sense because a country that still retains a captain based on Glory form 5 years ago who has clearly lost 90% of form and reckoning why would that country not be deluded enough to write such a nonsense heading to a write up.. CSN you people had better start becoming more professional your writes are quickly becoming laughable!
@Ugo, you will live long. On paper I expect Nigeria to win this game but you guys should be measured and respect your opponents.
I am sure most of us Nigerians do not and are not talking this way. Especially after the World Cup disappointment. It is the press creating an unnecessary sensation. Its all garbage.
They have started boasting again. All this arrogance must stop and start using your heads.
Pls read the article before u make a comment
Pride comes before the Fall be careful CSN writers
Really dumb comments to make (that is if Dosu actually said this). Nigerian journalists are notorious for making up things and embellishing comments people make. Very irresponsible.
Sierra Leone is no push over and the Super Eagles will likely struggle against them, much like they have struggled against all the teams they have played against this year.
