Exclusive: Approach Each 2026 WCQ Game Like A Cup Final –Shorunmu Tells Eagles

Former Nigerian goalkeeper,Ike Shorunmu has urged the Super Eagles to approach their 2026 World Cup qualifiers like a cup final.

Recall that Nigeria will face familiar opponents such as South Africa, their West African neighbors Benin Republic, Rwanda, Lesotho, and Zimbabwe, for the sole automatic ticket.

Since making a debut appearance at the 1994 World Cup in the United States, the Super Eagles have qualified for all editions of the Mundial except in 2006 and Qatar 2022.

However, Shorunmu in a chat with Completesports.com advised the Super Eagles not to underestimate any opponents in the group.

“I have seen the group and I don’t think there is any need for Nigerians to panic. Yes, it’s a difficult group but I am very optimistic the Super Eagles will qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

“This time around the team must get it right by approaching each game like a cup final. They must avoid underestimating any team.”

This is the biggest Contradictory statement ever. Coming from the masters of Underestimating of their opponents. What bigger Underestimation is there than Trying to force below standard not up to inter national level standard NPFL Players on SE for High profile international Qualifiers.

In short Ik and his cohorts are the biggest losers in the history of ex internationals anywhere in the World.

Ike Shorunmo could not apply this philosophy with his cohorts Super Eagles in his era with SE , how he can advice this new generation with this thought?! so I think he can advice them to play strong and drastic with descipline and dedication and committment football style , so that they can bring good results for SE team and for Nigerian people.

If the SE want to qualify for the world cup, it is the NFF they need to play like a cup final.
Their success depends on beating the NFF. They have to succeed INSPITE OF THE NFF.
The NFF as presently constituted is an OPPOSING FORCE actively working against the team’s interests.
If they can’t beat the pot bellied hoodlums in the Glass House, they will have to say ADIOS to the world cup ticket.

Pompie if you would like to beat NFF make a publican demonstration which seeks and agitates on deposing Gasua and his administerative crew in NFF and hiring or appoint new chairman for NFF like Tijani Babanjida or Nwankwo Kanu or Austin Okocha , thoes three fromer Super Eagles players have a native and honesty to develop Nigeria football, than like losers and corrupts men.
