Exclusive: Don’t Judge Super Falcons By Japan, US Friendly Defeat –Dosu

Ahead of the 2023 Women’s World Cup, former Nigerian goalkeeper, Dosu Joseph has revealed that the Super Falcons should not be judged by the US and Japan friendly games.

Recall that Nigeria lost 2-0 to Japan in today’s friendly encounter after initially losing 4-0 and 2-1 to US in September.

However, reacting to the team’s performance, the Atlanta Olympic gold medalist in a chat with Completesports.com stated that the game is meant to help the ladies and the coaching crew fine tune their strategies ahead of the main tournament.

He noted that it will be too early to start crucifying the team even before the World Cup.

“Well, I don’t think the players or the team generally should be judged by the friendly games they have played so far.

“What is more paramount is for the team to understand each other and perfect their strategy before the World Cup proper.

“Atleast there is an improvement to the game they played today against Japan compare to the game against US. With time, I sincerely believe they will be prepared for the world.”

When last did any Nigerian nstionsl team play a friendly on home soil? For financial and security reasons we must travel around the world playing away games. How do we expect to win?

Make we no look Japan ayanya ooo.
When it comes to women’s football, Japan na powerhouse. Some of the players that beat a strong USA team in 2011 to win the world cup were on the pitch against Nigeria.
Nigeria’s performance was commendable indeed, for the following reasons:
    1) The quality of the opponent.
    2) The opponent was playing on their home turf.
    3) Inadequate time for Nigeria to prepare.
Against all these odds, it took questionable referee decisions for this strong Japan team to beat Nigeria. As shown in a video I posted on another thread, both goals would not have happened if the referee had made the correct calls.
Of course, the team is not the finished article. There is still some tweaking that needs to be done to improve the team. However, the team’s progress over time is obvious.
Bottom line, we have a team that can compete at the world cup. How far they will go remains to be seen.

Nobody is arguing that but when will our team start playing draw or winning against the power house? Are they unbeatable? Will it be a crime if we beat them?

Oh! We should not judge them by Japan lost? We should judge them by Super eagles lost to Ghana, is like diesel is in your brain, or too much of oil, has this team play anything superb or special since this wardrobe of a guy assume office?
We can’t compete with power house even Africa team are now giving us a run for our money and you’re saying we shouldn’t judge they play better than the US match, how? By loosing 2-0, do you even watch the match? That scoreline was because of Onadozie … Assuming we don’t have a good goalkeeper it would have be 5-0 or 6… With this coach, I don’t think the falcons will win one match in that world cup.
