Exclusive: Ghana Can’t Stop Home Based Eagles From Qualifying For 2023 CHAN –Unuanel

Former Kwara United coach, Samson Unuanel has revealed that Ghana can’t stop the Home Based Super Eagles from qualifying for the 2023 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

In a chat with Completesports.com, Unuanel stated that the pool of talents in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) are capable of holding their own in Africa.

“I am confident the Home Based Super Eagles players are good enough to overcome their arch rival in what looks like a tough challenge,” Unuanel told Completesports.com.

“I expect the Nigerian coach to have done enough analysis on the Ghanaian team in order to know their strengths and weaknesses. This is a game that may determine the fate of some of the players in terms of progressing to the main Super Eagles.”

Just dey here and write rubbish!! Caf has an agenda to either eliminate Ghana or Nigeria from Africa mana or competitions and they have this agenda going right for them!! Ghana, Nigeria and I coast are to eliminate themselves from major competitions in order to peeve the way for these amateurish teams from South Africa and east Africa to qualify easily!!

Most Nigerians are easily convinced no wonder the most populous Africa nation has no say in how caf should be run! If 250 million population has no say in caf, it shows how African see Nigerians!’

      U stupid BOKOM idiot!

It ll always take a smart Ghanaian king like myself to open ur BOKOM eyes!!

      Bastard

Why didn’t caf make cosafa the qualifying format for Southern Africa nations to qualify to major tournaments!

Why doesn’t caf make Maghreb regions has a similar platform like wafu?

      U stupid bastard lol

Some of these players have had top quality training with the main team ,they played friendly games against mexico twice and against Ecuador.. These should have learnt some quality football lessons to qualify for Chan..

The coach should release his team , and should pick his players by merit.

We must qualify, I can’t remember the last time we played in that Chan tournament

“I am confident the Home Based Super Eagles players are good enough to overcome their arch rival in what looks like a tough challenge,” Unuanel told Completesports.com.

Really, Mr Unuanel..? Or are we missing something…? Has any home-based team been assembled yet…? has any list of homebased players to be called to camp been released yet…? Somebody please help.

I stand to be corrected, but the last assemblage of a complete home-based SE team was the one that was assembled to go and play Mexico a year ago. Most of them have since jetted out. Even the ones called up by Peserio a few months ago are not all still playing in Nigeria at the moment. Most NPFL teams are currently participating in the ongoing Aiteo Cup. Anyone who has any links to the list of callups to the HB SE for this CHAN qualifiers should kindly help us with it.

I really love Mr Unuanel’s confidence and I will really love to know its source. A team that hasnt even been assembled is good enough to defeat arch rivals who have already played 2 competitive fixtures already…..LMAoooo. Its not like the Nigerian League is head and shoulders better and above the Ghanaian League.

    I still dey laugh o.

For the records, below is a clip of the Ghanaian HB team brimming with so much chemistry and understanding that our own unassembled squad needs to overcome over 2 legs to qualify for CHAN.

I still can’t understand the idea of assembling a team two weeks to a playoff it’s so disrespectful of the opponent’s, should we lose the football authorities should be called to explain to Nigerians their reasons for adopting this system.
I think something is wrong with Pinnick.
Nigerians don’t even see it as a problem but wait until they lose everyone will be calling for the head of the coaches Landan Bosso is this and that,Yusuf is dishonest bla bla bla… Without addressing the actual problem
In my opinion we don’t deserve to win, because we have not shown desires to nor done things required of a people who wants to win and qualify.
Ghana is not just any team.A side considered one of the best teams in the continent yet we have the cheek the impertinent to think it’s a stroll in the park.
Our hope comes from having Salisu Yusuf as the manager, despite public spite,I have the opinion he’s the best we can offer domestically,I won’t be surprised he pulls it off he’s well experienced and technical besides he knows the league in and out.
I can only wish the team good-luck but things have to change henceforth with a fresh and better administrators after the elections in September.

You are right oga. The home based teams should have been playing several friendly games by now. In Nigeria we like fire brigade approach. Only God can help us.

    • This is what we have been singing instead of Nigerians to be focusing our League players and putting an all star NPFL team together months in advance to train together and gel together and prosecute CHAN games, evil agents are trying to elevate them with the support of some clueless fans to the Super Eagles main team above more qualified International stars for Super Eagles, forgetting Chan now CHAN has come about and people see the importance of assembling a CHAN team in advance LOOOOOOOOOL! Nigerians Una no go kee persin o nawa o WONDERS INDEED SHALL NEVER END WITH THIS COUNTRY CALLED NIGERIA. When things are done backwards this is the result. LOl

Our administrators DO NOT understand football, they think football is magic where one can just assemble a team a week before a match and expect to win it,hell even magic shows require months of planning,I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again FOOTBALL IS A PROCESS and it requires a lot of planning and time,of ofcourse if our league was better we might have a chance but from what I see nah we’ll be lucky to get a draw although I wish HBE the best.its a shame we’re facing this good Ghana team and one of us will not be going to the CHAN all thanks to Mr motsepe and his Maghreb cohorts.

    • Roy of The Rovers 2 years ago

You are so right. Planning is lacking in Nigeria’s football. NFF has to change their ways otherwise Nigeria will fail in football.

There’s a plain caf conspiracy to eliminate Ghana, Nigeria or I coast from all underage competition as well as the so called CHAN tournaments through the stupid so called wafu in order to balance the equation for more inclusion for other weak, bogus Africa football countries precisely Southern Africa and east as well as central Africa representatives!!

Do u think Uganda or Rwanda under 17 can come to Ghana and eliminate us from the under 17 qualifiers or Burundi under under 17 to come to Nigeria or I coast and eliminate them in underage competition? It isn’t happening so caf want west Africans to eliminate themselves so that the likes Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia as well as Iibya can win these competitions easily!!

Ghana met Nigeria in the under 17, under 20 and we are meeting at Chan too and this should tell anyone work a little brain that, something isn’t right!

With the same exception of the North Africans who sometimes can eliminate us through underhand tactics, the rest of Africa finds it tough to eliminate west Africans from qualifiers and that’s why caf came up with this bullshit format to eliminate ourselves!

Zambia isn’t playing South Africa but ghana is playing Nigeria, I coast and Burkina Faso, some tough football nations and even Benin and Togo isn’t a joke either

Ghana and Nigeria should team up and boycott these caf orchestrated formats until the right thing is done!! If caf should insist on this format, then it should be applicable to all the other regional bodies of caf not just west Africa!!

If there’s no conspiracy, why should caf allow Ghana and Nigeria to eliminate themselves knowing they are two of the most decorated football nations in AFRICA with huge supporters!!

The Arabic and French connection is at work in caf and until Ghana and Nigeria steps up and boy these games, nothing is going to change anyway!

      • onwajunior 2 years ago

I don’t understand how our representatives agreed to this format in the first place. With this format SA is always going to be guaranteed a place in any world tournament. As you said, we should protest to Fifa, and if that doesn’t work, we should boycott these qualifiers. It won’t take long before we start using this format for the Fifa men’s world cup qualifiers in Africa

        • Selfmade KING 2 years ago

Because they are taking advantage of Ghana/Nigeria rivalry for us to eliminate ourselves! Ghana, Nigeria, I coast, Togo, Niger, Burkina Faso are some of the strongest football nations in AFRICA with a pool of talents unmatched anywhere in AFRICA but we have to play against one another in order to qualify to represent in an Africa tournament whiles the likes of South Africa, Zambia etc gotta to play weaker teams  to easily qualify

Again, Morocco, Egypt, Algeria and Tunisia aren’t playing themselves to qualify but Ghana and Nigeria has to play against these strong, west Africa opposition to qualify! Is this justice?

And even Togo and Benin will bashed these Southern Africa nations anyday but they have to play against Ghana and Nigeria to have a chance of qualification

U see, the caf president has a solid agenda to make South Africa qualify to each and every tournament and he bought most of the west African fa presidents and hence they always side with him with most of his decisions!! The guy is a BILLIONAIRE and u know how we see these billionaires in AFRICA!!

He came to Ghana when we were about to play South Africa and the news was that, he promise to help Ghana host the afcon whiles South Africa goes thru to the wc and our executive members rejected it!!

And just as u said, very soon this WAFU BULLSHIT is going to be the platform for the main senior teams to qualify to afcon!!

How can ghana and Nigeria, two most populous nation in west Africa sit down for this caf president to dictate to us, is even beyond my understanding! Bullshit!

We should simply boycott this wafu nonsenses and tell caf to do the right thing otherwise we aren’t partaking in any of these competitions again!!

If wafu  is the format for qualification to Africa tournaments for Ghana and Nigeria, then cosafa should be the format for southern Africans!

The Maghreb regions which includes morcoso, Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia should also play against themselves for their qualifications!!

U see at first, caf was controlled by thr FRANCOPHONE African countries and they formed a solid alliance against English speaking countries dubbed the ARAB-Francophone connection and now South Africa has joined the alliance to destroy west Africa football!!

Someone ll say is just a conspiracy but am telling u, is the absolute truth!

They don’t want to play us and will do everything to deny us qualification!

Since Ghana and Nigeria has failed to qualify to this Chan, Morocco has won it back to back  which shows the biased!!

          Wake up Nigerians!!

  • Hello all,

I just sent the content below to CAF via email. Their email address is : [email protected].

Please drop them an email about this criminal zonal qualification formula. We need to speak out even if our so called elected officials keep shtum!

You email does not need to be as long as mine, just send them a message to make it clear that the zonal qualification formula is wrong and to demand for them to scrap it immediately.

    “”
    Dear Sir/Madam,

    End Zonal Qualification Formula

Can I kindly ask that you reconsider the zonal qualification formula used in African football? West Africa has produced some of the most successful African national teams in world football.

To constantly have Ghana, Nigeria, Ivory Coast and even Togo (all teams that have been to the senior level men’s world cup) eliminate each other in the so called Wafu Zone B tournaments is nothing short of criminal.

It is simply using a backdoor route to expose some countries at the expense of others. It is analogous to Uefa making Italy, Spain and Portugal eliminate themselves; England, France and Germany eliminating themselves so that one of Malta, Cyprus and North Macedonia and one of Latvia, Estonia and Belarus will always qualify for tournaments.

It passes belief that any regional football association will even think about implementing such a draconian measure in this day and age to favour certain sub regions ahead of others.

It is just so inappropriate at best and ludicrous at worst.

Sadly, Ivory Coast and Ghana were tactically prevented from participating in next year’s Fifa World Cup for women because of this dubious qualification construct.

Under a more sensible qualifying formula, both West African teams would have qualified for the just concluded Women’s Afcon where one or both of them would have qualified for the world cup. Or is there a conspiracy against West African countries?

CAF, end zonal qualification formula now!

    Thank you very much indeed.

    Kind regards

    Mr deo””

GHANA will demolish this local yeye NPFL team because yet again the best players of NPFL have rather moved on to Algeria or Croatian leagues LOL!!!. No structure no organisation just clamour for Players to try and punch above their weight in SE before CHAN lol na the result be dis now. Let us see how NPFL teams will beat a Ghana team made up of players from a stronger Ashante Kotoko and Hearts of OAK. instead mumu coachs and ex internationals will be thier in their local parlors bragging up and down.

  • @Deo, caf will not do anything, especially when it come to caf competitions. This zoning crap was done under Ahmad and our own Amaju was part of it.
The only thing is for fifa tournaments, if there lots of petitions to fifa regarding this, i think fifa will look seriously into it and put their foot down and insists the best have to come from Africa hence no zoning. Still Amaju needs to voice his opinion as he is now part of fifa now.
