Exclusive: Ndidi, Onyeka Combo Will Make Super Eagles Midfield Solid -Aikhomogbe

Former Green Eagles goalkeeper, Andrew Aikhomogbe believes the combination of Wilfred Ndidi and Frank Onyeka in the Super Eagles midfield will make the team solid ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Recall that Onyeka recently joined the newly-promoted Premier League club, Brentford from Midtjylland in Denmark where his explosive impact was noticed.

While some football lovers believe the arrival of Onyeka will create quality competition with Ndidi in the Super Eagles, however, Aikhomogbe in an interview with Completesports.ng from his base in Cairo, Egypt, stated that both players could form a formidable partnership in the team if well utilized by coach Gernot Rohr.

“I’m really impressed with the progress made so far by Frank Onyeka from Midtjylland to Bretford in the Premier League. I am more impressed with his quality and will be eager to see what he can do in the Premier League when the new season kicks off in August.

“It will be too early to assume that Onyeka can outstand Wilfred Ndidi from the Super Eagles considering the fact that he has plenty of experience to learn from the Leicester City man. Yes, both players can form a strong combo in the Super Eagles and make the team more solid in the midfield if well utilized by coach, Gernot Rohr.

“I really can’t wait to see what he (Onyeka) can do for his new team in England. But I expect him to make Nigeria proud.”

  • I agree with this statement…..The two of them can play together and that will give the attack liberty to operate without fear….. the two of them will also give protection to our fullbacks or wingbacks to go forward and deliver crosses to the strikers…..for the two of them playing together to make a difference for SE,we need bold attacking midfielders bold strikers bold fullbacks who are willing to go forward and do damage…..If not all these factors listed above combining two of them might make us too defensive and heavy.

…for sure Frank Onyeka will improve with his EPL move…

  • They have come again @ex international. Why don’t you allow the guy to settle well in his new club before starting to putting pressure on the gaffer on how he can be utilized. Pls don’t start again it is too early for this afterall, the guy is not new to SE coach.

Premiership is hard league, let’s pray so onyeka will settle down fast because competition is too much. I think onyeka doesn’t have stamina like Ndidi but let’s wait and see how he can cope with Premiership football…

There’s nothing about the new boy he doesn’t pose any skills or long shot he looks just too ordinary watched his highlight I don’t even know what to say. I will choose Etebo anyday anytime….. Etebo is a real warrior that can break play, burst into defense with so much bravery and score goals if given a slight chance.
