Exclusive: ‘There Is Consistency In Peseiro’s Super Eagles List’ –Shorunmu

Former Nigerian goalkeeper, Ike Shorunmu has praised the Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro for his consistency with the list of players invited to the senior national team.

Recall that Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookan, Alex Iwobi and 20 other players have been included in Peseiro’s list for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, qualifiying double header against Guinea Bissau.

However, Two players from the Flying Eagles squad that finished third recently in Egypt are surprise inclusion.

Nigeria and Guinea Bissau will meet at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja from 5pm on Friday, 24th March, before jetting out to fulfill the reverse fixture three days later at the Estadio 24 de Setembro in Bissau.

Reacting to the list of invited players, Shorunmu told Completesports.com that the Portuguese tactician has been consistent with list of invited players to the Super Eagles.

“I think the list of invited players for the game against Guinea-Bissau are good. Atleast, Jose Peseiro has shown some level of consistency with the list he has released.

“I am confident the Super Eagles will get the job done against Guinea-Bissau.”

Consistency in naming players that does play at their clubsides or consistency in name players that has failed us when it matters most. Anybody using Guinea to judge Nigeria is a MUGU.

Even the last time eagles met guinea Bissau… It was an easy game..now that dey want to try guinea Bissau with bench warmers it is not going to be an easy bush meat to eat .

Yeah we could get the job done but it doesn’t change the fact that we are going into these duel with largely unfit players.
The likes of Aribo who doesn’t make the matchday squad for his team shouldn’t have got a call as well Bamayi and Musa.I understand he wants to keep the same squad for better team unity because of the little time they have to prepare for the game at least 3 new additions won’t cause any damage.
On current form Olayinka should be in the team as well Tella. In the absence of Aina Ebuehi should have deputised,Obinna Nwobodo of FC Cincinnati should have got the call to take the place of Aribo.
With few additions it won’t unbalance any synergy or understanding the team has built under Peseiro because it’s not a wholesale change.
The likes of Orban could start with the under23.

  • Shorunmu, please what’s consistent in this list. The list that has refused to give us anything to cheer about. Is it not this same team list that failed woefully to qualify for World cup. Go and learn how Senegal is doing it and flying to the top of African football. They are fortifying their square with new players who are of Senegal origin and doing well in Europe but what we are doing is to remain stagnant and even retrogress even with players selection. For example, Ahmed Musa, 30, may be the record capped player by Nigeria, but he has yet to score for relegation-threatened Sivasspor after he was dumped by another Turkish club Fatih Karagumruk for non-performance.

Onuachu, on the other hand, has yet to settle down in the Premier League following his transfer in January to strugglers Southampton. What do we have the same set of players made it to Peseiro list. I wonder the type of coach our nff are engaging to manage the national team. My Access is that the present nff under Gusau and his board have started on bad foundation with this list and I don’t think it will produce good results at the end.Mr. Sorunmu I respect you and your view but this list has a lot of flaws. Where is Gift Orban, Akpom Chubam and Tella who on current form are playing regularly and are better than Onuachu, Ahmed Musa named one the list if we agreed that list should based on current form. This coach is not good as far as I am concerned. He cannot give us the desire results. I keep my fingers crossed and like I said during Pinnick Administration that we Will not achieve anything, I hope we are not heading in the same direction with this type of arrangements of team list. I wait and see. God bless Nigeria.

You would think a new coach would arrive with new ideas and change. Not Peseiro, the team is the same team that played and failed to qualify for WC. The SE is now like the civil service, where the older you are the more privileges you get.
Nigeria is just too corrupt to do anything efficiently or correctly. Airways they can’t manage, refinery they can’t refine, elections they can’t conduct. SE used to be Nigeria at its meritocratic, is now politicized.

  • Victor Osimhen is just as unlucky as George Weah to find himself as a Nigerian player. All his efforts to win matches will not show with these bunch of talentless players.

If there’s Consistency In Peseiro’s Super Eagles, why is Adeley name omitted on the list?

The same way you INEC manipulated the presidential election, ba? Who is fooling who kę?

If i’m not mistaken, where is Amaju that brought Oga Rohr and Oga Paseiro to Nigeria today? History will definitely remember you people.

Mr. Shorunmu, please, if you don’t have anything to say, leave us alone.

NFF fired Oga Rohr to hire another Oga Rohr in the making. Does that make any sense? Oga Paseiro is not the solution to the Super Eagles problem period. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!

I praised Olabode Samuel commentary that Peseiro must search for excellent duble- natinionality players just like Michael Olise, Chuba Akpom, Caleb Okoli, Boby Adekanye, Adarabioyo, so he has to recall them to Super Eagles team to strengthen and fortify the team. Some recalled players have not in form, cause they do not play regularly in their clubs like Aribo, Onauchu, Ndidi,Iheancho, Ahmed Musa, Onyeka, why did you recall them? I think the players you must recall Chuba Akpom, Gift Orban, Victor Boniface, Okechukwu Azubuike, Igo Egbo, Anderson Esiti, Frederick Benjamine, Solomon Agbalaka from Super Eagles under 20; we are rolling on discharger çircle.
