Exclusive: Utilise All Your Best Players For 2023 AFCON Qualifiers –Lawal Tells Peseiro

Former Nigerian winger, Garba Lawal has urged the Super Eagles manager, Jose Peseiro to make use of all his best players within his reach in a bid to qualify the team for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Recall that the Super Eagles sit on top of Group A with six points from two games, scoring eleven goals and conceding just once.

Victory against Guinea-Bissau in a double-header clash will automatically seal qualification to the tournament slated for Ivory Coast.

However, in a chat with Completesports.com, the former Levski Sofia star said that with the array of talents in Peseiro’s disposal, the Super Eagles should qualify for the big showpiece.

He also advised the Portuguese tactician to utilise some of the quality players once the AFCON qualifiers resume.

“There is no doubt that the current Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro is doing everything possible to ensure the team qualify for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

“However, the coach should ensure he utilises all his best players both in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) and the foreign based players for the upcoming AFCON qualifiers against Guinea-Bissau.”

No now, this is very bad advice. We need to give priority to home based players, to encourage them. Remember that SE camp is the flagship rehabilitation and encouragement center for Nigerian players. Peseiro should please focus on only home based players, and he should forget about them immediately they find new clubs anywhere outside the country. As soon as they leave the country, they are no longer home based, so they should be replaced immediately with new home based players.
If this is implemented, together with NFF shenanigans of coach salary sharing and player bonus hoarding, Nigerian football will soar to new heights. In fact, we will very likely win the next world cup.

@Pompei hahahaha,LMAO . I hope they will learn a thing or two from your satirical comment. But on a serious note we need our beat players where ever they are playing on the Earth surface.. During the era of Mikel , Emmanuel Eminike was the leader in SE attack, Mikel himself was the leader in midfield, While Kenneth Omeru was the leader in defence and Vincent Eyeama leader in Goal. The cardinal problem faced by the SE now is that they lack a leader in all departments except In attack where Osihmen though young is the leader. Indeed , there is so much work to be done by the present Coach in terms of bringing in players in every department that can be dependable and act as the pillar and leader in that department in terms of passion, commitment and ability. Until we begin to see SE through the lenses of this paradigm , the team might continue to perform in a merry go round.

NIGERIA HOMEBASE PLAYERS THAT CANNOT BEAT THEIR AFRICA COUNTERPART TO QUALIFY FOR CHAN NATION CUP, WILL NOW BE THE ONE TO QUALIFY SUPER EAGLE FOR WORLD CUP. LET CONTINUE TO BE DECEIVING OURSELVES
ANY HOMEBASE PLAYERS CLAIMING THAT HE DESERVE TO BE IN SUPER EAGLE SETTING SHOULD GO AND PROVE HIMSELF IN CHAN COMPETITION BEFORE BEING INVITING TO SUPER EAGLE TEAM.

    ### IRRELEVANT PLAYERS IN THE SUPER EAGLE ###
Now that we have more than enough good players that are playing regular & doing very well in their respective clubside, it Is HIGH TIME for Coach PASEIRO to thrash away irrelevant players in Super eagle. Any players that can not be 90% relevant on the field of play SHOULD NOT BE INVITED to Super eagle team again. Because their inclusion are:
    ** 1) SURPLUS TO REQUIREMENTS
    ** 2) creating SHORT-ONE into the team
** 3) BLOCKING THE CHANCES of other players that want to shine.
IF COACH PASEIRO CANNOT MAKE A BOLD STEP AND DEAL WITH IRRELEVANT PLAYERS IN SUPER EAGLE TEAM, THAT MEAN FAILURE IS LOCKING AT YOUR DOOR.

  • DON'T MIND THEM 1 year ago

SO BY NOW AHMED MUSA, BALOGUN, OMERUO, AKPEI, IGHALO SHOULD HAVE RETIRED FROM SUPER EAGLE. BECAUSE
** THey are SURPLUS TO REQUIREMENT
** They are creating SHORT-ONE to the team
** They are blocking the chances of other players that suppose to shine
IN 2002 world cup, what is the impact of MUTIU ADEPOJU to the team? ANSWER=FAILURE & SURPLUS TO REQUIREMENT
IN 2010 W/CUP, what is the impact of KANU to the team? ANSWER=SURPLUS TO REQUIREMENT & FAILURE.
LASTLY, IN 2022 QATAR W/CUP, what is the impact of C.RONALDO in Portugal team? ANSWER= ………
DON’T LET BE DECIEVING OURSELVES ABOUT EXPERIENCE, IF YOU ARE OLD, YOU ARE OLD.

INFACT WE REALLY APPRECIATE THE PAST EFFORT OF ALL THESE PLAYERS. THEY SHOULD THING ABOUT THEIR RETIREMENT BY NOW WHEN THE OVATION IS LOUD BEFORE THEY WILL BE EMBARRASSED BY PUTTING THEM ON BENCH BY THIS NEW PLAYERS THAT ARE DOING WELL.

  • Homebase home bases, why forcing homebase players into SE? U didn’t qualify for Chan or top African club team suddenly u have what it take to bench European/foreign players. Rohr Was right about the Homebases players. NFF and general republic of Nigeria Pls stop forcing or pointing fingers on who coaches should invite.

We are in different generations from what it means selecting players from local teams/homebases.

SE is not where you test/train players.

The problem is that if u talk from morning to night dey Wil never hear .
I remember all the world cup except 1994 .. and 2002 . There is always two to three players that was not supposed to be there. Therefore causing a big problem for the team moving forward in the competition.
Eg or case study. Qualification for south Africa. 2010
Nigeria 1 Mozambique 0. 94mins a player was on the field.. missing all the chances. But 15mins or so the coach brought in a guy that changed the momentum of play that led to the goal.
    Kenya 2 Nigeria 3
Same a player was on the field missing all the goals . After and guys came in to change the momentum which won the game for the team
    Ok.
    World cup proper
All is history. We had the world greatest miss .
We heard na so Dem dey do am
The guy that normally enter the game to change momentum was a bencher in most games at the world cup
The one that wil always miss goals at will is always on the field.
Anyway this is a big problem even til now .players that are bench warmer is premier league are eagles Best eleven now

Lol… Are u referring to Obafemi and Yaks? Honestly, if you watch these guys train you’d think Yaks is the world’s best striker. He bullies everyone and its difficult for the coach to ignore. But in games proper…flops!!!
