Jordan Torunarigha has revealed the reason behind his decision to turned down the chance to play for the Super Eagles in the past.
Having represented Germany at various youth level, Torunarigha switched nationality to represent Nigeria in June.
The centre-back was first approached by former Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr in 2018.
The 26-year-old stated that age played a crucial role in his decision then.
“I was quite young at that time and it was difficult to accept the offer to play for the Super Eagles,” Torunarigha told Completesports.com in an exclusive interview at the team’s hotel in Uyo.
“I never visited Nigeria before now and that played a key role in my decision. You know I grew up in Germany and it was easy to accept Germany then.
”I later discussed with my family and took the decision to play for the Super Eagles.
“This is my first time in Nigeria and I ‘m enjoying every bit of it. I want to be part of this team for a long time.”
Torunarigha has played on a regularly basis for Belgian Pro League club, KAA Gent this season.
