Former Nigerian international, Peter Rufai has expressed optimism on the chances of the Super Eagles at the forthcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Recall that the three-time AFCON champions have been pitted alongside host Ivory Coast, Guinea-Bissau and Equatorial Guinea in Group A.

With the Super Eagles battling Equatorial Guinea in the opening game on Monday, January 14 2024, the 1994 AFCON winner told Completesports.com that with team work and good technical strategy, Nigeria can lift the trophy for the fourth time.

“I think as far as game concept and tactical formations are concern, the Eagles can put up a very good performance in terms of team work. And if they achieve the team work, definitely it will take them to height.

To win afcon the eagles must set up a camp in Europe.
Camp must open by Tuesday to Thursday for 5weeks .where dey wil play friendly with clubs and return to their clubs for the weekend games .afcon cannot be won by parading attacking guys only .. all players in the team must have role…not this weak defence no playmaker and strong attack we have presently.
Imagine a game with Brentford, rangers, Porto, Nante, after a day training in camp ..those days clubs in Europe defeated eagle 5 0 4 1 3 0 before dey went to Algiers 90. But in Algeria the team only lost the cup to the Algerian national team .

    • Lolll you are funny, and you expect the clubs that pay there bills to allow them?

I reiterated many and many times that if Super Eagles would like to win the next AFCON. Cup in Cote De Ivore, NFF administeration must prepare SE with on time for this tournament, must pay coaches crew thier wages on time, must prepare an excellent camp with quality matches for them; coach Jose Peseiro must change SE style of play with Nigeria football culture like playing with short , quick passes, playing in depth football , playing with crosses by wingers, choose strong and agile goalkeepers who have charisma to motivate Eagles defence, orient them to creat strong defence, good wall when SE affected with direct kick by the competitor, coaching crew must play with 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 which are suitable with SE style of play; coaching crew must choose SE for this tournament on merit and form of the players at thier clubs notchoosing with sentiment and interverence by any one; if all thoes administerators do these things , I think SE can win this next cup.
