Ezenwa Visits Super Eagles Camp, Wishes Team Luck Against Sierra Leone

Ikechukwu Ezenwa has attempted to raise the spirits of the Super Eagles ahead of Friday’s 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying clash against Sierra Leone, reports Completesports.com.

The Super Eagles will look to maintain their unbeaten streak in Group L when they take on the Leone Stars at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City.

Ezenwa, who was not named in the squad for the game as a result of his inactivity at club level visited the team’s Etherno Hotel base on Tuesday to demonstrate his support for the team.

“I’m still part of the team, so I’m here to support my teammates ahead of the game against Sierra Leone,” the Heartland goalkeeper told Completesports.com.

“It’s an important game for us. We hope to beat them on Friday and in the second leg next week in Freetown.”

Ezenwa was part of Super Eagles’ squad that came third at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

He has been capped 21 times by Nigeria.

  • Okay so Ezenwa is not listed in the team because of his inactivity at club level. Wow. A striking resemblance to a certain Ahmed Musa however, Ahmed Musa is listed in the squad.
Ezenwa in my eyes has every reason to feel aggrieved about not being included in team because if compared to Akpeyi (direct competition) some may feel he is more reliable. Lets look at Musa’s competition Ejuke, Maja etc he is at the bottom of the barrel and taking into account the quality of wingers and forward players on standby list he is also at the bottom of the barrel.

What message is that sending to the team and players a situation like this can cause disharmony and cause the coach to loose respect from certain players and quarters in the squad especially if they are close friends to Ezenwa which I am sure some players are.

This is a perfect example of the coach needing to be more fair across the board when it comes to selection criteria

Oga up your MIC, when we complained of politics going on, they said because he is very experienced. So Ezenwa is not experienced abi, abeg just dey watch, very soon some will be playing in division 3 and the excuse will be they are experienced

I’m no pessimist, but the way I see it I think the last time ezenwa was called would be the last time he would ever be called.

  • Ezenwa should shift, abeg. Some of us don’t even know how he kept making the team in the recent past like a godfather is involved somewhere. Ezenwa is not in the core team. Dude shouldn’t flatter himself. If he says ‘he’s part of the team,’ then Mikel Agu could as well claim so. Apart from a core group of about 6-7, I don’t think anyone can really claim to be ‘a part of the team.’ You’re only a part of the team when you’re invited.

  • No distractions pls. SE shouldn’t be meant for half baked or average player anymore. We need vast and international experienced players not local experienced players. SE is no more testing ground for junks
