FA Cup: Balogun Subbed Off In Brighton’s Home Loss; Dele-Bashiru Scores, Success Bags Assist In Watford Draw

Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun made his first appearance for Brighton and Hove Albion since August 2019, in their 1-0 home loss to Sheffield Wednesday in the Emirates FA Cup Third Round on Saturday, Completesports.com reports.

Balogun was in Brighton’s starting eleven and was substituted before the start of the second half.

Sheffield Wednesday’s goal was scored by Adam Reach in the 65th minute.

In another FA Cup game, former Flying Eagles star, Tom Dele-Bashiru, scored while Isaac Success had an assist, as Watford threw away a 3-0 lead in the first half to draw 3-3 against Tranmere Rovers, to set up a replay.

Dele-Bashiru who was making his full debut for Watford, opened scoring in the 12th minute.

Watford doubled their lead in the 14th minute through Nathaniel Chalobah who was set up by Success.

On 34 minutes, Roberto Pereyra got on the score sheet to put the home side 3-0 up.

But it was a different ball game in the second half as Tranmere Rovers came storming back and pulled a goal back through Connor Jennings on 65 minutes.

Tranmere continued to pour forward and were rewarded with a second goal on 78 minutes thanks to Emmanuel Months.

And with three minutes remaining Tranmere completed the comeback as Paul Mullin converted from the penalty spot.

On 89 minutes Watford were reduced to 10 men after Pereyra was sent off.

Oh my God !!! This is very sad news about Balogun. They wouldnt even let him complete a match against a lower league clubside? I refuse to believe that this is about form. The Balogun I know is not the type who cant hold his own against a lower league club. He should just get out of that club and get going please. As for Dele Bashiru, congratulations to him. Wish him a great future. For Success am wondering….since how many years hes been in Watford hes still a fringe player. He needs to get more serious.

Balogun played well for the period he was in. I think it must have been a smart move to prevent injury, as he is most likely leaving this January if we go by rumours flying about. Destination not confirmed yet. With injury that will become impossible, so better playing 45 mins n remain injury free.
