Ferdinand: Eze In Line For England Call-up

Former England international Les Ferdinand says QPR midfielder Eberechi Eze will strengthen his bid for a Three Lions call-up if he continues his fine form at club level, Completesports.com reports.

Ferdinand, QPR’s director of football believes Eze an England U-20 international has the talent to challenge for a place in Gareth Southgate’s squad.

Eze qualifies yo play for Nigeria as he has not featured for England’s senior national team in a competitive game.

And Ferdinand concedes Eze may need to be playing in the Premier League to be considered for a senior call-up and, with an impressive return of 12 goals and eight assists in the Championship this season, he is reportedly attracting interest from Tottenham.

“A lot of the time you need to be in the Premier League to be recognised but he has shown the kind of form and, if he continues to develop in the way he is developing and keeps showing the type of football he has been playing, he is certainly going to put himself in the frame,” the former QPR and Tottenham striker told Sky Sports News.

“People are going to start talking about him playing for England.

“He came through and we have got a few others at the club too. Bright Osayi-Samuel is doing extremely well, as is Ryan Manning at left-back. He is not English but he is in the Ireland set-up.

“We have got a few young players coming through the system now who we are really excited about.

“They are helping us in our campaign this season to finish as high up the league as we possibly can.”

After English football was put on hold until at least the end of April as a result of the outbreak, Ferdinand is urging people to follow government guidance on social distancing to help limit the spread of the disease.

“We are all up in limbo at the moment in terms of when the season will start again,” he said.

Nff should please get this guy for us. When I watched his highlights, I could not find the right word to use for him. The guy is by far better than Iwobi. What do you guys think about him?

    • Goal 1 year ago

You can only get someone who wants to play for us.
Eze feels his level is bigger than Eagles,so we can only wish him well.

If our coach look very well we have players that can battle Iwobi in that position, players like Dennis, ejuke and sam Kalu will do the job.

Bro, calm down hmmnn. Super eagles is big enough, if this guy doesn’t want to play for the almighty SUPER EAGLES, we wish him well. We don’t have to beg anyone.

  • Abdul, you are so spot on. Eze is an incredible talent no doubt however the Super Eagles is in an incredibly fantastic place.

Whoever thought Joe Aribo will turn out to be such a hit? The options are now way too plentiful for us to be going on our knees for any player.

Like Mr Goal said, some of the strikers in the squad should be able to cover the attacking midfield position well.

I don’t think he feels that way about us @ Goal just that the Nff are too slow, i think we ahead of the English FA since he have trained with us in the past

Comparing a player in playing in the premiership with someone playing in the lower league is bad enough, to think he is better than iwobi is something else, arsenal has not recovered from their stupid sale of iwobi just to let you know

Totally agree with you it’s preposterous comparing a player playing in the premier league with someone in the lower league. Let him show how good he is in the premier league when he signs with Tottenham before jumping the gun on him been better than Iwobi. Of course the SuperEagles is too big to be begging anyone to play for Nigeria.

Nigeria is lucky to have someone like ejaria coming to join the super eagles whom I consider same level of not better than eze!!!
We are blessed with talents please

THEN: Playing qualification tiers–AFCON, sometimes WC–is left for little known and exposed players to prosecute. After doing the slave job, the BIG BOYS emerge from the clouds, are hand-picked to feature in the main event.
NOW: The BIG BOYS scramble to play in the qualifiers. knowing that if they refuse to show up……..they can just forget the main event.

THEN: We prostrate before players, weeping and jerking sorrowfully, begging them to play for the SuperEagles.
NOW: We only encourage our top players to take their deserved spots in the national team. Many of then, being seasoned professionals, perceive the potential and line up for the national team. They play their parts and their names enter the history books. Others line up behind 3-Lions. Some of these become perpetual bench warmers and hit the wall on their international careers.

Everyone gambles. Should we be blamed? It’s a free world!
