Fernandinho Pleased With City Response

Fernandinho praised the bouncebackability of Manchester City following their 3-1 victory over Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday. Sergio Aguero was the star of the show for Pep Guardiola’s side as he grabbed a hat-trick, and the result has moved City back up to second in the standings, two points behind leaders Liverpool, who will take on West Ham at the London Stadium on Monday.

The victory was particularly important for City as they were looking to bounce back from their surprise 2-1 defeat at Newcastle during the week and Fernandinho believes they responded in the best possible way. “We wanted to get back on track, get back to winning ways playing good football. We went for the game from the first minute, we scored another early goal and we deserved the win,” the Brazilian told Sky Sports.

Laurent Koscielny scored Arsenal’s goal during the first half, briefly making it 1-1, but Aguero re-established City’s lead on the stroke of half-time and Fernandinho felt that was a decisive moment in the contest. “We conceded from a set piece and we knew they were really good at them before the game,” he added. “But we maintained our rhythm and the way we were playing. We scored the second goal at the end of the first half and in the second half we controlled the game.”
