FG Unhappy With Napoli’s Treatment Of Osimhen

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, has condemned Serie A side, Napoli’s poor treatment of Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen.

Recall that the Nigerian international was the target of a bizarre video posted from the club’s own social media profile on Tuesday, September 26, 2023.

The video centred on an incident in the club’s scoreless draw against Bologna on Sunday, in which Osimhen spurned the opportunity to win the game from the penalty spot.

Napoli’s peculiar video focused on the Nigerian appealing for the penalty, using a strange and rather unsettling sped-up voice, which appeared to have no context, other than to mock the striker for his attempts to persuade the decision to be given.

However, instead of apologising to Osimhen, the club only explained they never had any intention to offend Osimhen with the soft contents.

But then, reacting to the development, Yusuf Tuggar stated that Napoli should have done more by apologizing to Osimhen.

“When we go about our duties, we should always remember Article 1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights that all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.

“They are endowed with reason and conscience, and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.”

The minister added, “Napoli did not act in the spirit of brotherhood by mocking of her star player, Victor Osimhen, who was instrumental to the team winning the Serie A championship last season.”

Instead of an apology Nappli have condemned Osimhen to the bench. The end is not far away. Sports Minister should keep out of this.

No, but it’s good – Even if it’s just lip-service from the minister, this is the sort of thing that they would also do for their own citizens- Let the minister run his mouth – maybe they will sit up a bit more and think twice before giving our people stupid hand, when they start getting opposition to all these their stupid moves, maybe they will start thinking that there will be a backlash if they try to cheat us like they have gotten accustomed to doing – If this was a British citizen or American, like for example Harry Kane being treated like that in Germany, not to mention in an African country, you will hear the noise that their foreign ministry will make.
Let’s start rejecting all this nonsense and returning it back to sender!
