FIBA WCQ: D’Tigers Beat CAR 72-59, Face Senegal Sunday

Nigeria’s D’Tigers returned to winning ways at the ongoing FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 African Qualifiers second round defeating Central Africa Republic 72-59 in Abidjan on Saturday, reports Completesport.com.

The D’Tigers had lost 76-42 to ‘Les Elephants’ of Cote d’Ivoire in their opening game on Friday.

The defeat ended Nigerian team’s nine game unbeaten run in the Group F qualifiers.

Alex Nwora’s side drew the first quarter 14-14 but winning the second quarter 11-18.

They consolidated with a 15-21 before drawing 19-19 in the final quarter.

Ikenna Iroegbu scored a double double bagging 17 points and ten rebounds while Ike Diogu posted 22 points and ten rebounds.

Mike Umeh scored 11 points and bagged four rebounds.

D’Tigers will face Senegal in their final group game on Sunday.
