Cyriel Dessers has expressed his delight after getting his first call-up to the Super Eagles, ahead of this month’s 2021 AFCON qualifying double-header against Sierra Leone, Completesports.com reports.
Dessers, 26, was included in the Super Eagles 24-man squad released on Wednesday.
“I am incredibly proud of this selection. It is a great honor,” Dessers was quoted on his Dutch Eredivisie side Heracles’ official website.
“I can’t wait to wear Nigeria’s green-white shirt and look forward to the upcoming international match.”
Dessers who currently tops the goal scorers chart in the Dutch league thanked his club and his teammates for making it possible for him to get his first Super Eagles invitation.
“This would not have happened without the trust of the club and the cooperation with the team. I am very grateful to them for that. ”
Also invited to the Super Eagles for the first time is FC Koln right-back Kingsley Ehizibue.
The Super Eagles will host Sierra Leone inside the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba on March 27.
