Scotland scrum-half Greig Laidlaw kicked an impressive 16 points as Clermont beat Lyon 33-14 to book their place in the Top 14 final. With Morgan Parra out of action due to an ankle injury, Laidlaw took his opportunity with both hands and was a key figure in guiding Clermont to victory in the playoff semi-final.

Damian Penaud, Alivereti Raka and George Moala all went over for tries and Laidlaw did the rest with the boot in Bordeaux on Sunday. Clermont head coach Franck Azema was delighted with the win but says the focus has already switch to the big one against a star-studded Toulouse side on Saturday.
“We have to correct quite a few things and control a few things better than we did today because we’re going to face a top-of-the table side,” he told broadcaster Canal+. “We’ve already turned our attention to recovering from the game, having one day less than Toulouse, and how we can maximise our week to stay fresh for next Saturday,” he added.
