Aigbogun: Burundi Made Things Difficult For Us

  • Flying Eagles head coach,  Paul Aigbogun,  praised the efforts of Burundi in their first game at the Africa U-20 Nations Cup in Niger and stressed his team will strive to improve in subsequent outings, reports Completesports.com.

  • The former champions beat their spirited opponent 2-0 at the bumpy Stade Seyni Kountche Stadium pitch. on Saturday.

  • The Burundians   managed to contain the Flying Eagles in the first period which ended goalless but fell apart after the break.

  • Nazifi Yahaya broke the deadlock ten minutes after the restart with a superb header to ease the pressure on his side before Maxwell Effiom secured the win  with a stylish finish past the keeper 20 minutes from time.

  • “We had a lot of trouble before getting the win.”Aigbogun who once managed Nigeria Professional Football League teams,  Warri Wolves told reporters after the game.
  • “It was not an easy match because Burundi played well and we had a lot of trouble before we won. “We have certainly beaten Burundi but recognize that our group is very strong.”

  • “It is for us now to take the games one after the other without neglecting any team.”

  • The Flying Eagles will face the Amajita of South Africa in their next game on Tuesday

  • Our boys tried but they should improve in their shooting & scoring ability. They could not shoot properly and those who shot from long range, did so lousily. We created a lot of chances but their finishing was poor.
