‘Flying Eagles Will Do Well At WAFU B U-20 Championship’ –Bosso

The Head coach of Nigeria’s national Under-20 men’s foosball team – the Flying Eagles, Ladan Bosso, has assured that his boys will do well to earn one of the CAF qualifiers tickets on offer at the WAFU B U-20 Championship in Niamey, Niger Republic, Completesports.com reports.

The Flying Eagles will face Ghana and Burkina Faso in the Group B of the WAFU B U-29 Championship. Hosts Niger Republic, Cote d’Ivoire, Togo and Benin Republic are in Group A.

The tournament which holds from May 7th – 20th in Niamey serves as the qualifiers for the 2023 U-20 AFCON. Only two teams from the WAFU B U-20 Championship – the winners of Group A and B – will earn spots at Egypt 2023 U-20 AFCON.

“I have carefully selected 30 players for final phase of our preparations and this will hold in Niamey where we hope to have complete concentration, as well as blending and bonding of the team ahead of the qualifiers billed to kick off on May 7,” Bosso stated during an interview with the media in Abuja.

“The boys I have picked are getting close to competition peak, and hopefully, they will be ready by the time we train and play a couple of friendly games against Niger Republic and a club in Niamey. I have the optimism that we shall do well to pick one of the tickets for the CAF U-20 AFCON in Egypt.”

Boss added: “Being drawn in same group with Ghana and Burkina Faso is not going to be easy, but my experience from the last edition has taught me some lessons. I hope to work on them and excel. I know Ghana and Burkina Faso have been in camp since last year, that will not worry us as we are leaving no stone unturned to get the best out of the boys.”

Asked why he started camp late, Bosso posited: “It is not how long but how far,”stressing that he would not make progress if he continue to dwell on the duration of camping, adding that he is focused on getting a good team ready and picking a ticket to U-20 AFCON in Egypt.

    Cool chop for Ghana

    • Bosso’s Fourth Bite Of The Flying Eagles Cherry

The Flying Eagles of Nigeria are on the quest to qualify for the Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations taking place early next year in Egypt. At the helm is controversial Ladan Bosso, the same coach under the same conditions that saw them crash out of the same tournament two years ago.

What were those same conditions? Late camping plus late preparations which equalled failure in Benin Republic in 2020.

However, with exactly the same set of variables, Bosso is promising a different outcome this time around.

“We will strive to give our best to win our first match and the subsequent ones in order to progress,” said the perennial Flying Eagles coach as he primes his team for the tasks at hand.

Despite all the worries around late preparations, Bosso insists that the three tune of matches that the team has played thus far are helping to whip them into ultimate tournament shape.

“In these three tune up matches, we scored 10 goals and conceded four (in the two wins and one draw that we achieved). This shows that things are not too bad.” He concluded.

It has to be said that two years ago, his team did well in tune up matches only to come short in the tournament itself. The score draw to Ivory Coast and slim loss against Ghana sealed their fate.

“We had chances that would have finished this game since the first half but we couldn’t do that. We were very wasteful and that was what cost us this match,” said Bosso in December 2020 after a 1:0 loss to Ghana saw his Flying Eagles crash out of the Wafu Cup.

So, will he be able to address that wastefulness this time around?

“My experience from the last edition has taught me some lessons. I hope to work on them and excel,” said Bosso according to the article on Complete Sports Nigeria.

For me, I was very satisfied with the brand of football played by Bosso’s boys in 2020. It was discernable, positive, dynamic, purposeful and direct. They created compelling goal scoring opportunities only to fluff their lines when it mattered the most.

From what I saw, poor pitch and questionable refereeing decisions – particularly against Ivory Coast in the first match – was their Waterloo.

Bosso has actually qualified a Flying Eagles team for the World Cup before (in 2009), which is little known knowledge.

Back then, Bosso’s boys (which included the likes of Michael Uchebo, Nwankwo Obiora, Rabiu Ibrahim and Gbolahan Salami) overcame the likes of Ivory Coast, Egypt and South Africa to grab one of the three world cup tickets on offer at the Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Rwanda.

Will he be able to attain the success that eluded him in 2000? We haven’t got that long to wait.

We coming again … we ll OUTSMART them with QUALITY TALENT

        Nigeria is QUANTITY

        GHANA is QUALITY

        • Emecco 2 years ago

Selfmade, Nigeria had won the U 20 Afcon on 6 occasions, so at African Level we are the most successful, you have one The U 20 world Cup once, we have also reached the finals on 2 occasions so we are not so far off at Global stage, but winning the under20 Afrcon on 6 occasions to Ghana’s 4 is quite some gap.

          • Greenturf 2 years ago

For the fact they won the ultimate price (world cup)they definitely are the best in the continent at that level.
I know it hurts but it’s factual.

      • Guy u are lying the was non of those players u mentioned played in that qualifiers. It was brown idaye, the soccer guy we call Bentley, ewa echejele. Now at the World Cup we had bala Ezekiel

        • OmoEsan 2 years ago

@Dan , Deos isn’t living. Brown Ideye, Echiejile and co belongs to the 2007 set also coached by Isa Ladan Bosso.

          • Dr. Drey 2 years ago

Hahahaha OmoEsan, they are accusers of the breathren….LMAOoo. They just barge in with false accusations when all they have to offer doesnt even come close to being as factual as the truth…LMAoooo.

The laughable part of the whole story is that a simple apology after such goofery will elude their thinking faculties completely

      • Chima E Samuels 2 years ago

@Deo yes he qualified for one World Cup but was sent packing sharperly lol. Bosso is just not a coach that is what we are trying to say. Qualifying for u20 World Cup is not new, after all Siasia went all the way to final before losing to Messi led Argentina plus the Referee as usual. In that tournament we played very well with the likes of Mikel and co but I can boldly state that if it was Bosso that handled that team they’ll not only crumble but he will not take the best players because the man doesn’t have an eye for talent. We will be shooting ourselves on the foot if the NFF don’t stop all this nonsense in Nigeria. What is Bosso doing in our national team? What did he do with Olusegun and Wisdom Ugbani led u20 the last time??? There’s no excuses when a coach is good he is good.

        • Caleb 2 years ago

Chima don’t blame him maybe when he starts taking his bath he will start thinking properly. Pinnick is incompetent so he can only employ same kind. Birds of same feather will always fly together.

  • Greenturf 2 years ago

It’s worrying how Pinnicks Nff don’t take our youth teams seriously.
Who prepares a team for three weeks going to a major playoffs tournament??
We are playing well organized sides like Ghana and Burkina Faso teams that have started preparations since last year, this surely is a herculean task for Bosso who wouldn’t express his disappointments of his employers to the press.

If the saying that picture speaks in volumes then that above picture of the said coach have said everything about him , meanwhile no sane person will have confidence in this man, the NFf is failures repeaters,…

    • Chima E Samuels 2 years ago

I was about to say this, and come to think of it this same man is the President of Nigerian coaches. Nigeria is ruled by thugs so it doesn’t come as a surprise to see this one as a coach because no serious entity will allow this man into their office talkless of granting an interview. What will this one impact on young talents? How many talent has this man developed for the past 3 national assignment he has been given aside bringing disgrace. What has he achieved in his entire coaching career? This man is the least coach in Nigeria even his players don’t like him. What is wrong with Pinnick??? Complete Sports can’t even speak out like the British press when things are not done properly. Continue granting him interview!

  • Ayphillydegreat 2 years ago

About 50% of the players are from the U17 Eaglets that reached the final of the last U17 AFCON. From the few clips I’ve seen from their training camp in Abuja. The coaching crew are mostly focusing on tactical drills and shooting from set pieces and little details. The talents are their they just need to blend together and understand the importance of the competition / competitions ahead of them if they want to counted and make names for themselves.

Our youth teams are the conveyor belt of the SuperEagles. If we can raise a formidable U17 and U20 team in the next mens youth tournaments the SuperEagles will be better for it. Nigeria is a country where 50% of its population are 40 and under. It will a disaster to mankind if that population can’t fight for a change in every sector. It begins from here.

Continue fooling who’s talking about Ghana here? Does this look like Ghanaweb? Confused idiot everyone is focused on their national team talk but you won’t stay in your lane due to your inferiority complex. Ghana football has a lot of loopholes, and will be greatly exposed at the world cup after qualifying via away goal. Your mouth will be sealed after coming back pointless!

Whats this one saying again? Won’t you go and rest? You have a small mind. Nigeria has already moved on from the disappointment of that qualification and you’re here still ranting about Ghana’s glory of years gone bye. You are so obsessed with Nigeria. Is it only Nigeria you guys are playing at WAFU? Nations play football to engender unity, but you are there fuelling the embers of discord by making your country look superior in every level of the game. What have you got to say about Falcons defeat of your female team. How many Nigerians do you see ranting on Ghana Web pages, disturbing every one because over victory over Black Queens? This is a game. You win some, you lose some. When you win, be humble and show respect. When you lose, be gracious and hope for the best.
Just to remind you, age grade teams are the most dynamic. Those who played in the last edition of WAFU are not the ones playing now. So why do you think your current team is better than the Nigerian team you’ve not even seen play? All you know is make noise and insult people. Why can’t you wait until the competition is over before you declare your victory over Nigeria again? You simply need to grow up, oga.

Endurance Samuel, leave that guy o. I learnt the hard way that his obsession with anything Nigeria knows no bounds.
The amount of time I wasted exchanging words with him will always represent the most worthless endeavour of my entire life. I could have spent all that time sleeping, playing with my cats or just lazing out in a beach somewhere.
If Ghana lose all their games in Qatar, it will not bother this guy. His world cup was won the minute Ghana knocked Nigeria out in qualifiers. God almighty!!!!
Don’t even let him get you started with Nigeria’s problems. He has the widest collection of YouTube videos in the world of Nigeria’s cesspools, Boko Haram atrocities, shit holes, slums, murderers, bank robbers, swindlers, fraudsters, rapists, suicide bombers, blackmailers, ritual killers, armed robbers, looters, embezzlers etc etc that you will ever see. How depraved is that???
I have to be perfectly honest, I have never in my life come across such obsessive compulsive disorder in a football follower.
Chima Endurance, leave this guy o. He needs help. Ghanaians are very good people, at least the sane ones among them. We Nigerians wish them well in Qatar. If they do well, it will be a thing of pride to West Africans and indeed all Africans everywhere.
Don’t let this Self Made Joker bring you down to his level. I have stopped responding to him after I realized the extent of his mental health disorders.
