Uli Hoeness, honorary president of Bayern Munich and 1974 FIFA World Cup winner with West Germany, has claimed that Michael Olise is better than Lamine Yamal.
The legendary German exebelieves the French winger is on track to become the best footballer in the world and hasn’t hesitated to place him above Lamine Yamal, one of FC Barcelona’s biggest stars.
“Michael Olise is on his way to becoming the best player in the world. For me, he’s better than Lamine Yamal,” Hoeness asserted in an interview with the German newspaper ‘Welt am Sonntag’ (via sport.es).
He justified his opinion by highlighting the extraordinary qualities of the French international, who has become one of Bayern’s key attacking players.
“He scores goals, provides assists, he’s fast… He’s practically the perfect player,” he stated. Hoeness’s comments come at a time when Olise’s name has also been linked to Real Madrid.
However, the Bayern honorary president wanted to nip any speculation about a possible departure in the bud.
“That’s nonsense. Michael has a contract with us until 2029. So right now we’re not even considering that possibility,” he stated emphatically.
Bayern also plans to address the French international’s contract renewal in the coming months, although Hoeness isn’t worried about the possibility of the negotiations falling through.

“We’ll talk to him during the season about extending his contract. If he doesn’t want to renew by then, we’ll simply wait and see what happens in 2029. I’m not worried at all,” he explained.
The legendary German football executive also used his interview to discuss the situation of Florian Wirtz, the German international who left Bayer Leverkusen to join Liverpool.
Hoeness believes the player would have performed much better had he joined Bayern Munich. “Florian Wirtz would play much better at Bayern than he is playing at Liverpool,” he asserted.
“I watch many of their matches. They haven’t managed to integrate him properly at all,” added the executive, who believes the midfielder has lost much of the prominence he had in Germany.
“At Leverkusen, he received every ball; at Liverpool, he’s simply one among many,” concluded Hoeness, highly critical of the way the English club is managing the German international’s talent.
