Fowler Dismisses Mane-Salah Feud

Former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler is adamant there is no fallout between Reds forwards Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah. Reports suggested the pair were not on the best of terms after Mane was seen to be frustrated by Salah’s apparent selfishness in front of goal in their win over Burnley before the international break.

Fowler feels people are reading too much into it and that top players like Salah are the stars of the game because they take things upon themselves during games. “I’ve honestly never heard such nonsense as the stuff that has surrounded this so-called spat between Sadio Mane and Mo Salah,” Fowler told The Mirror.

“Everyone commenting and talking nonsense about being ‘greedy’ or destroying team spirit, have they never watched football before? Because you can’t be a top-class goalscorer without total belief you will score.”
Fowler added: “I look at Salah’s record and it tells me he’s going to keep doing it.”

Salah has managed to find the back of the net an impressive 57 times in 78 Premier League appearances since making to move to the Reds from Serie A outfit Roma.

Liverpool have made a perfect start to the season, with four wins from their four Premier League outings before the break.

Neither Salah nor Mane seems to have felt any ill-effects after their efforts in the Africa Cup of Nations over the summer with Egypt and Senegal respectively.

Both players will be keen to continue their strong starts to the season when Liverpool are next in action on Saturday against Steve Bruce’s Newcastle United at Anfield.

The Magpies have endured a tricky start to the season but a 1-0 over Tottenham before a draw against Watford has started to move the Toon in the right direction and help ease the pressure on Bruce in the dugout.
