Brazilian midfielder Fred is reportedly on the verge of leaving Manchester United to join Serie A outfit Roma. United forked out a reported £52million to sign the Brazil international from Shakhtar Donetsk last summer but he struggled to make an impact in Manchester, making just 13 Premier League starts.
It is now being claimed the Red Devils, who missed out on Champions League football after finishing sixth last season, are ready to cut their losses on the midfielder. Norwegian tactician Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is eager to add more funds to his transfer kitty this summer as his continues his squad rebuild and the sale of Fred would help to do this.
Serie A outfit Roma are said to be in the market for the 26-year-old although they are only interesting in a two-year loan deal, while United are hoping for a permanent exit. Fred is believed to be interested in leaving Old Trafford although he may not get his wish unless Roma and United can come to some sort of agreement over the type of move.
