Toni Payne has expressed delight after ending her goal drought with the Super Falcons in almost five years, in Friday’s win against Senegal in a friendly game.
The tune up game which was played in Ikenne, Ogun state, saw the Super Falcons win 2-1 thanks to goals from Asisat Oshoala and Payne.
Oshoala opened the scoring for the Super Falcons from the penalty spot before Payne doubled the lead, which saw the WAFCON champions go into the break 2-0 ahead.
Senegal pulled a goal back in the second half but the Super Falcons held on to claim the victory.
Reacting after finally getting on the score sheet for the Falcons, Payne said in the post-match presser:”I’m happy to score (for the Falcons) after almost five years so just really good to do it here in Nigeria.”
Meanwhile the Super Falcons and Senegal will clash again in a second friendly match on Monday at the same venue in Ikenne.

Both teams are using the Friendlies as part of preparation for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Defending champions, the Falcons are in Group C with Zambia, Egypt and Malawi.
The 2026 WAFCON tournament also doubled as the African qualifiers for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
The top four teams will qualify for the World Cup, and two more teams will advance to the inter-confederation play-offs.
