Former Nigerian international Alloy Agu has disclosed that the Super Eagles will give Portugal a tough competition ahead of Wednesday’s international friendly.
The June 10 fixture will serve as Portugal’s final preparation match before the country departs for North America for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
For Nigeria, the friendly offers another opportunity to test the squad against elite opposition ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, which begin in September.

Head coach Eric Chelle is expected to use the match to further assess his team as preparations continue for upcoming competitive fixtures.
Eagles Ready for Portugal Showdown
In a chat with Completesports.com, Agu stated that the Super Eagles have what it takes to face Portugal.
He also highlighted that he was impressed with the team’s 2-2 draw against Poland in Warsaw on Wednesday in an international friendly.
“I expect an entertaining and tough game against Portugal due to the way the team played against Poland on Wednesday.
“Portugal, no doubt, are a very good team, but I believe they won’t find it easy against a Nigerian side that will be eager to maintain their impressive form.
“We have the quality to also match the Portuguese team and wish the players the best.”

22 Players In Eagles Camp
A total of 22 players are presently in the camp of the senior national team of Nigeria ahead of the high profile friendly game against Portugal on the 10th of June,.
The squad was recently boosted by the arrivals of Samuel Chukwueze, Alex Iwobi, and Christian Akpan ahead of the high-profile showdown.
The Super Eagles traveled to Leiria, Portugal, following their recent international fixtures and friendlies in Poland.
