Friendly: Waldrum Anticipates Tough Duel against Japan

Super Falcons head coach, Randy Waldrum says coming up against top sides will only make his team better ahead of the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Waldrum’s side will face the Nadeshiko of Japan in a friendly at the Noevir Stadium, Kobe on Thursday.

The Super Falcons test their might in two friendlies against current world champions, United States of America last month.

The American stated that pitting his team against the likes of Japan and world champions USA can only improve them.

“We play against the best teams in the world because that is what it will be like at the World Cup,” Waldrum told a press conference on Wednesday.

“You don’t get better if you don’t play the best competition.

“Japan are a world power, they are a very disciplined and organised team.

“They have maintained their quality, they now have physically strong players.

“It will be a difficult challenge, but it will be a great experience for us as we prepare for the World Cup.

“We have some young players, we need to find out where we are lacking and playing teams like Japan will expose areas we need to improve upon.”

  • Thanks NFF for this friendlies.

More for both female and mail teams.

Girls, I’m not trying to put you under any pressure as we are all aware that it’s a friendly match. At the same time, if you can’t beat Japan kindly draw them please.

We know that Japan is a strong team but at the same time we are not weak. You can do it girls. We are always proud of you.

    Good luck girls.

My special greetings to Ajibade and plumptre.

    God bless Super Falcons.

    God bless Nigeria.

    Well done Coach.

Asisat Oshoala is back at her pranks again, playing politics instead of football. She’s a Pinnick loyalist and wants to mourn his exit. That’s okay, but also the young lady’s attitude is disrepectful to Gusau and Nigeria.

This Assisat should be dropped outrightly from the team. I’m yet to see anything meaningful coming from her in the last 4 years. If it’s not injury, it will be unfounded excuse to miss this friendly and that competition. Shes is quite appealing in most matches I’ve seen play from Super Falcons in recent time. Let her kuku face her Barcelona and another person take place in the national team.

      This is just incredibly daft!
This is a lady who has single handedly taken Nigerian female football the the highest heights in world football, picking up multiple injuries in the process playing for club and country.
She only just recovered from another injury and is still on the mend, but some punk ass people here chose to denigrate her because she excused herself from a 22 hour flight from her base to Kobe, Japan for a friendly (not competitive) game?
Men! This just goes to shoe the low IQ of some Nigerians

  • Segun 1 year ago

You seem to be the one with low IQ Oshoala is back and has played 3 full games for the Barca team. The other players who made the long flight are fools right? Idiot with high IQ. Do you have to insult to bring home your point? daft individual of the lowest order.

Perpetua Nkwocha won more with Nigeria than Asisat Oshoala. Check that out! We’re dazzled by the euphoria that she plays for Barcelona coming from the slums of Ikorodu and Robo FC, but forget that in recent times she has flatly refused to work with the coaches in a system built around her. I don’t see how the country can sit back and watch the Super Falcons decay, all because of Asisat who wants to be skipper, coach and superstar!
