Hamburg have blocked Fulham’s efforts to sign talented teenage centre-back Josha Vagnoman, according to reports in Germany. Bild claim the Bundesliga 2 club are confident of fending off the interest from three English clubs – Fulham, Newcastle and Brentford – who have reportedly contacted the player’s agent.

Vagnoman has been one of the discoveries of Hamburg’s current season, making eight first-team appearances after graduating from the reserves. Reports claim Vagnoman could have fetched over 7m euros in transfer fees – a significant amount for a relatively unknown 18-year-old, but Hamburg sports director Ralf Becker is not ready to cash in.
“Joshua has developed very well and we find him very exciting,” he said. “He has a contract, we plan with him and are not ready to talk.” Vagnoman recently extended his contract with Hamburg through to 2021 and it included a clause that will extend the deal to 2022 if he plays in at least 20 Bundesliga games for them.
