Fulham Face Fight To Land Keeper Target

Fulham have been linked with Newcastle keeper Freddie Woodman but face a fierce fight for his signature.

Woodman is set to enter the final year of his deal at Newcastle and is ready to move on when the transfer window reopens.

Fulham are believed to be keen on the 22-year-old, but they face competition from Celtic, Everton and Arsenal.

The Gunners are tipped to win the fight for his signature as the keeper’s father Andy is Arsenal’s Head of Academy Goalkeeping and Under-23’s goalkeeping coach.

There is still a chance Woodman could end up at Craven Cottage next season even if he joins Arsenal as the England Under-21 international is unlikely to challenge Bernd Leno for the first choice spot and the North Londoners could seek a loan club for the shot-stopper if they do win the fight for his services.

Arsenal number two Petr Cech has decided to retire at the end of the season but the Gunners have two keepers out on loan and two in their reserve squad, including Arthur Okonkwo, who has featured in a first-team matchday squad.
