Returning English Premier League club Fulham, have shown their interest in Super Eagles defender, Calvin Bassey, by making an initial €4 million bid for the Glasgow Rangers star.
Fulham spent the 2021/2022 season in the English Championship, but after another near-flawless campaign, they were promoted to the English Premier League.
Aware that more is required in the top flight of English football, and the Cottagers are eager to improve a defence that has allowed 43 goals in 46 league games in their Championship campaign. The west London club is well aware that one of Europe’s most improved defenders will improve their backline if they can add him to their payroll in the summer.
Bassey, who left Leicester City’s Academy for the Ibrox Stadium in 2020, as a relatively unknown defender, had an outstanding season with the Scottish giants, Rangers. His best performance came in the Europa League final, although Rangers lost on penalties against German side, Eintracht Frankfurt.
The 22-year-old has diligently pushed himself into the top half of every major club’s shopping list especially after finishing the Europa League as the only Nigerian in the Team of the Season.

Bassey does not need to go to where he will be under pressure and battling relegation……bassey needs a stable top half EPL club where he can learn and develop under a cool environment…… Fulham will recruit the whole Europe and blending will be an issue just like last season…..The pressure will be too much on the new players and it will affect their performance……Bassey should rather go to Aston Villa and continue his development under the legendary Steven Gerard who took bassey to Rangers at the first place.
Is he needed in Aston Villa? If yes, that is the right place to be for him.
Fulham is too unstable to get involve with. If Leicester or Evention calls, our young Bassey can listen.
Most of the stable EPL teams today where unstable at some point.
Good point @Greenturf
This player is only hyped by Nigerians, nothing special about him. In fact he is worth less than the stated amount
