Former Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher opened his goals account for Atletico Madrid in their 3-0 win against Valencia in La Liga on Sunday.
Featuring in his third game for Diego Simeone’s side, Gallagher gave Atletico the lead in the 39th minute.
Picked for his second competitive start for Atletico, Gallagher latched onto a beautifully weighted through ball from Rodrigo De Paul and fired under Giorgi Mamardashvili to open the scoring.
Also on target his another former Premier League star Julian Alvarez who like Gallagher, joined Atletico Madrid in the summer.
Alvarez scored in the 94th minute to make it 3-0 for the home team while Antoine Griezmann made it 2-0 on 54 minutes.
The win meant Atletico Madrid moved up the Liga table, level on 11 points with Real Madrid and Villarreal on the same day that leaders Barcelona thrashed Girona 4-1.
