Conor Gallagher has reportedly agreed verbal terms with Atlético Madrid and is now set to fly to Spain on Monday to finalize the deal and go through all the formalities.
According to Fabrio Romano, Atletico Madrid had supposedly set a deadline for this weekend to get this situation resolved.
Chelsea had accepted their£33 million offer a while ago, but Gallagher evidently needed some convincing to choose to switch clubs as a five-year deal awaits him in the Spanish capital.
Chelsea had made a token attempt at keeping their Academy midfielder by offering a two-year deal (plus an option).
Meanwhile, Atlético Madrid have reportedly agreed a deal for Valencia midfield Javi Guerra, which seemed to put the Gallagher deal into doubt.
It’s unclear if they will still go through with that deal even if they do complete Gallagher’s signing.
