Genk head coach Jess Thorup has confirmed that Nigerian winger Yira Sor is set to leave the club this summer, reports Completesports.com.
Sor has been strongly linked with a move to newly promoted Turkish side Amedspor.
The Nigeria international is reportedly already in Turkey, where he is expected to undergo his medical before putting pen to paper on a contract with the club.
Thorup confirmed Sor’s impending departure, revealing that the winger has been absent from Genk’s camp for the past few days.
“I don’t know if everything has been signed yet, but I can be honest enough to say that Yira hasn’t been at the club for the past two days. He won’t be with us this season,” Thorup told HLN
Sor has struggled to live up to expectations since joining Genk from Czech First Division club Slavia Prague for €6.5 million in January 2023.
The 26-year-old’s progress at the Belgian club has been hampered by injuries, and he has now entered the final year of his contract.
Sor has also earned one cap for Nigeria at senior international level.
