Ghana Legend Gyan Not Listed In Black Stars 2021 AFCON Squad

Legendary Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan will miss next year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

Gyan missed Milovan Rajevac’s 30-man provisional squad and will not be present at the competition which begins in January.

The 33-year-old remains Ghana’s all time leading scorer in international football and also holds the record for the goals by a Black Stars player at the Africa Cup of Nations.

He has scored eight goals at the tournament and was an integral member of Milovan Rajevac’s team that reach the final of AFCON 2010. He scored three goals enroute to the finals against Egypt.

Meanwhile, his lack of football for the majority of 2021 has seen him miss out of several call ups.

He has not featured for the Black Stars since the Nations Cup in Egypt 2019, where Ghana reached the round of 16.

Meanwhile, in his absence, Rajevac has invited four strikers including teenager Felix Afena-Gyan.

Ghana starts their 2021 AFCON campaign against Morocco on January 10, 2022.

Nigeria should be bold enough to drop Ahmed Musa

This is one of the the worst Ghnan team in a long time. Imagine their main striker has 1 goal in 30-smoething matches in the premier league.

Taking Musa and ighalo will just be minus two in our squad, since we have sacked failed coach rohr and now going with a new coach,he should make ndidi the captain so can drop musa, or both of them, they have done well for us but thier greed won’t allow them quit

Did you Rohr’s slaves hear it? Younger strikers including a teenager were taking instead of Gyan. If it’s in Nigeria here people with supposedly senses will tell us how Gyan is the “highest scoring nigerian at the world cup”, “afcon need experience strikers”, Gyan(Musa) should be allowed to be in the team and contribute nothing simply because Nigeria did for Kanu, Yobo, Okocha and Mikel.

Naija is a joke of a country!!!!!!!!!!!!!

          • @Chinenye, I see your He-goat senses have kicked in again. Please explain to us what Olivier Giroud was doing with France squad at Euros or how Lewandowski is still regarded as the best Polish striker till date or how Cavani is still being called up by Uruguay or even How Pirlo at his old age was still playing for the Italian national team???

Every coach decides on who he wants to take to a tournament, but for you, no.
Na the one way day for Yugoslavia that is scoring goals you want to feature in Super Eagles.

            Stinking Egufe.

@Ben stop entering this platform with your brain in the cupboard. Giroud and lewandoski did not make the euro squard from the saudi league.

  • I guess they have realised that when the time comes, you have to let go of the past to make room for the future. I hope the Super Eagles handlers realise that as well.
