Ghanaian Businessman Expresses Interest In Buying Chelsea

A Ghanaian Businessman Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi has expressed interest in acquiring Premier League giants and reigning Champions League holders Chelsea, ghanasoccernet.com reports.

Boasiako, who is the Ashanti Regional NPP chairman, said he is ready to cough out three billion euros to meet the asking price of Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich.

Abramovich announced his decision to sell the London club following calls for heavy sanctions against him, due to his links to Russian president Vladimir Putin who ordered the invasion of Ukraine.

Speaking to Kumasi-based Wontumi FM, Boasiako said his gold-mining business can finance his purchase of the club.

“What I want to do now is to buy Chelsea Football Club. I’m a businessman, I do gold mining and [I can afford] £3 billion,” he said.

“I want to join the bid to buy the club. If I buy Chelsea, one of the first players I bring in is the Brazilain Vinicius Junior… What is £3 billion?”

  • ” how much is 3 billion?” ? Us this guy serious ? Even Southampton that have their own stadium, 80% of it shares was sold for 100 million, let’s conclude the total amount will be 150 million, and he can use 750 million to improve the squad that they will be like man City .
That’s just 1 billion, so this guy wan waste 3 billion on a club without a stadium so there isn’t a high revenue interest so even in the next 200 years he can’t have the full money he used to buy the club and not even including the money he will use to build the team.
But if this guy bought Southampton and use the remaining 2 million to develop some part of Ghana. And even Roman abramovic should sell Chelsea for nothing more than 200 million since he is under pressure to sell the club.
In serie a, a guy own two clubs with was disallowed in serie a so he had to sell the club he sold it at 3(?) Million that’s one one percent of the amount this guy wan waste (sorry Chelsea fans) .
If Roman doesn’t sell Chelsea soon they might be relegated to the championship

    • What’s the point?

      • That he shouldn’t waste 3 billion on Chelsea he can go and buy another club in my premier league with a significantly cheaper amount and the money he should have used to buy Chelsea and to use purchase buy name starts he should build other companies that can improve the economy of Ghana. That’s all

        • In the premier league, and also I don’t know why Africans do like this even the Saudi Arabia take over if Newcastle was just 305 m, even though they are getting a stadium with the club, Chelsea who rents their stadium he should waste 3 billion on it ?.
The name if the club means nothing or the history. Even other rich men who want to buy the club says they can’t buy it for that amount. Because Chelsea doesn’t worth it, if not because Chelsea owe Roman billions. Meaning Chelsea doesn’t g
Have a sufficient interest because they didn’t have the background, Roman has been the one financing Chelsea’s transfers
