Chippa United head coach Morgan Mammila believes the club’s first choice goalkeeper Stanley Nwabili will be included in Nigeria’s squad to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Nwabili has kept seven clean sheets in 13 league matches this season, including the 2-0 over Golden Arrows over the weekend.
Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro was at the club’s training last Friday to assess the shot stopper.

Peseiro was also among the spectators at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
Mammila is certain Nwabili will be on the plane to Cote d’Ivoire 2023.
“The way Stanley plays, he is in (AFCON finals squad),” Mammila told IdiskiTimes.
“I expect him to be at AFCON. The only problem is, we are going to lose Stanley. If he plays like this at AFCON, I’m telling you Stanley may not come back [from] the AFCON.

“Me and my friend (chairman), Chippa Mpengesi, we don’t waste time if there is an offer on the table, we allow that player (to leave). That’s who we are. He is a gentleman. That’s why he has allowed Morgan to coach his team.”
Nwabili joined the Chilli Boyz from Nigeria Premier Football League side, Katsina United in October 2022.
He has make one appearance for the Super Eagles.

I have always suggested that we look inwards for majority of the players for our senior national team, especially in the goalkeeping department.
All our previous great goalkeepers were home-grown.

You are absolutely the right coach. I still don’t get it why it took the current Super Eagles coach for so long before he considered Nwabali.
I said here many times that this Nwabali is very reliable, but Sean and his team were mocking the goalie, but today, none of them can come out to congratulate our world class goalie, Nwabali I wish Nwabali a good outing in Ivory Coast. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!
