NNL Super 8: Gombe United, Kogi United Share Point As Bosso Blames Poor Finishing for Draw

Gombe United played out a 1-1 draw with Kogi United in Sunday’s opening game of the Nigeria National League (NNL) Super Eight tournament at the Enyimba international stadium reports Completesports.com.

Joseph Onoja gave Gombe United an early lead in the second-minute goal but parity was restored two minutes after the hour mark through Ibrahim Enesi.

Gombe United manager, Ladan Bosso was extremely disappointed at his side’s inability to convert the numerous scoring chances created by his team in the encounter.

Abdulazeez Yusuff and striker Adamu Mohammed had clear-cut chances to put the game beyond Kogi United but missed their opportunities.

“We were not able to get the three points because we were too wasteful in the goal mouth of the opponent,” Bosso said during his post-match interview.

“Gombe United are a team with the quality for the Premier League and with what we have done so far, it remains just to work on the finishing.”

“That is what we are to do as coaches, to watch the strengths and weaknesses of the team and work on the aspects. Improve on the weaknesses and equally improve the aspect of strengths.”

“You could see Kogi United were even celebrating the draw because they know we were not evenly matched but because we were wasteful in the goalmouth that’s why it happened.

“We will identify the problems in this first match and work on them against the next match.”

Gombe will face Real Stars FC in their second group game on Monday.

Meanwhile, in the second game ongoing at the Enyimba International stadium, Insurance of Benin are currently leading ten man Delta Stars 2-0 as at the time of this report.

Delta Stars defender Nduka Eze was sent off after 35 minutes.

Charles Omokaro and Michael Enaruna scored for Bendel Insurance.

Kada City will face Real Stars in the third game while Remo Stars will battle Shooting Stars of Ibadan in the final fixture for the day. Both games will kick off by 4pm and 6pm respectively.
