Gracia Hails Hornets Response

Javi Gracia hailed his Watford players after they bounced back to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over Leicester City.

Watford got off to the perfect start thanks to Troy Deeney’s fifth-minute opener, only to be pegged back by Foxes striker Jamie Vardy, who equalised 14 minutes from time.

However, there was time for Watford to snatch all three points as Andre Gray struck an injury-time winner at Vicarage Road.

For Watford it was a perfect response to their 5-0 defeat at Liverpool in midweek, winning a fourth game in five, and Gracia was delighted with the spirit shown by his players.

The Hornets are firmly in the race to finish seventh, are still in the FA Cup, and the Spanish boss is optimistic about what the rest of the season holds.

“Today was a good performance because we remembered what happened against Leicester in the first game (a 2-0 loss),” he said after the match.

“We have a good balance in the team, the perfect atmosphere to play the rest of the season, there are nine games left, five of them are a home and we have the quarter-final of the FA Cup.

“I can see that the players want the feelings more and more and they are ambitious.”
