Grealish Sets Personal Target

Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish admits he is targeting a maiden England call-up this season. The attacking midfielder played a huge role in helping Villa secure promotion back to the Premier League last season after a three-year absence.

He netted six goals in 31 Championship appearances and ended up captaining the side towards the back end of the campaign. He is now aiming to make a big impact in the top flight with Villa, who have spent big in order to try and cement their place once again among England’s elite. The 24-year-old says that while his main goal is to help Dean Smith’s men finish as high as possible this term, he also has personal targets for this season.

Grealish said: “Maybe when I was 19, 20 and last played in the Premier League, I took it for granted and didn’t realise how lucky I was to be playing there. “Now I am back there I need to grab it with both hands and hopefully push this club as high as possible. “For me, what I want to do this season is get into the England team.”
