This is absolutely a joyful time for Pep Guardiola after reconciling with his wife, Cristina Serra, for his last game in charge of Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
Guardiola, who looked emotional during the ceremony, described Serra as an “exceptional woman” while addressing fans at the stadium after Man City lost 2-1 to Aston Villa on Sunday.
However, the manager’s final game in charge of City appeared to suggest that they have since made amends.
Serra joined more members of Guardiola’s family to watch their final day defeat to Aston Villa on Sunday, with the boss’s 95-year-old father also making the trip.
Guardiola, Serra Early Marriage
Recall that Guardiola and Serra tied the knot in 2014, 20 years on from when they first met, but news broke that they had split up in January last year.
The 55-year-old also paid tribute to his family, including his father, Valentin, who recently turned 95.

‘Yesterday my dad turned 95-years-old, woo,’ he said.
‘Maybe he doesn’t realise, but I’m pretty sure Cris [Serra] – an exceptional woman – and my kids realise in many, many years that the name of my family will be here for many years!’
The Spaniard waved goodbye to the fans on the pitch after the match, with Serra, their daughters, their son and other loved ones joining him.
Divorce Drama
Last year, it was reported that the pair began divorce proceedings in 2024 after 30 years together, with Serra upset by her husband’s decision to sign a new contract at City until 2027.

But reports last year suggested that the couple are trying to reconcile their marriage and Guardiola has been linked with work in international football – which would allow him to spend more time in Barcelona.
‘Pep Guardiola and Cristina Serra still wear their wedding rings,’ insider Maria Lapiedra told EN Blau in April 2025. ‘They’re trying to reconcile. He came to her house for three days this Easter and stayed the night there.
‘He’s saying he could be in Manchester and come see her on a private plane in Barcelona once a week, then leave again. She wanted to separate because he secretly renewed his contract, without speaking to Cristina, but Pep wants to stay with her.’
