Ilkay Gundogan has stated his desire to re-open talks with Manchester City chiefs in the coming days over a new deal.
The Germany international midfielder is in the final year of his deal at the Etihad and has been slow to respond to City’s offer of a new four-year agreement, believed to be worth £130,000-per-week.
Gundogan, however, has given the clearest indication yet he is ready to stay and commit his peak years to Pep Guardiola’s treble winners.

The 28-year-old told Bild: “Now is enough time to reflect on the situation and to take up the talks again more intensely with the club.” There is renewed optimism the German feels much more comfortable about his standing in City’s star-studded squad, having started 13 of the final 14 Premier League games of the season.
Gundogan proved a key component during the recent title run-in and Guardiola has also gone out of his way to reassure the schemer that he has a big role to play, despite also planning to bring in Atletico Madrid defensive midfielder Rodrigo this summer.
