Gyan Commends Lamptey, Williams, Others For Switching Allegiance To Ghana

Former Ghana striker, Asamoah Gyan has commended ‘naturalized’ Ghanaian players who opted to play for the Black Stars ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Five players switched international allegiance to Ghana: Patric Pfeiffer, Ransford- Yeboah Konigsdorgfer, Inaki Williams, Stephan Ambrosius and Tariq Lamptey.

Gyan lauded the players but urged them to play on for Ghana after the World Cup.

“Sometimes we should forget about everything,” Ghanasoccernet quoted Gyan as saying.

“Kevin-Prince Boateng when he came, it was a lot but he was able to deliver. Football wise those who have come in are very great players and they can also put something into the national team.

“My advice to those guys is we are here to support them but my question is what next?

“They should not come and play because of the World Cup and afterwards, they decide to decline subsequent invitations.

“Once you have naturalized for Ghana, you should be fully committed to the national team.

“After the (World Cup) they should still be available because this is a national team that does not engage in one tournament.”

The 2022 FIFA World Cup will take place between November 20 and December 18.

The Black Stars are in Group H alongside Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea.

A late commitment to the Black Stars by unknown, medocre, foreign-based players appears opportunistic even to a fool It may also be tactically disruptive and dangerous.

    • @Ako, pls say you don’t know them. Who doesn’t know Lamptey,Inaki Williams,Salisu etc. Pls keep watching your rugby!

There should be CAF law that players switching nationality to an African country csnnot go to the World Cup until they have earned more than 20 caps.

    • Maybe the NFF should start implementing your idea, it will help Nigeria

  • Marvelous 2 years ago

Lol is possible to earn 20 caps Mr Amadi? Just say they should be with the team for a year. That’s cool.

It brings competition to the team, now no player go think say a position be his property. These players are good too tactically, dem go add more power and go put fear in opponents

Yaw the World Cup needs many things, needs huge budget to prepare the team, needs a good camp and many preparing matches to equippe the team for this competition, needs excellent coaching crew and excellent players on all lines back line, mifield line(defensive & attacking) forward line, needs psychological formatting or initializing, needs an excellent team management(that means football federation or association of the team country must put their mines to do well for the team from all administrive aspects and sides. On technical aspect Ghana till now is lacking an excellent strikers or striker who play or plays box to box or excellent finsher like Osimhen,Moffi,Sadiq Umar,Dessers,Boniface in Nigeria; Sadio Mane,Dia in Senegal, Mohammed Salah in Egypt; Mohrez, soulimane in Algeria;I think if Asamwoha Gyan joins Black Stars he can do somthing , but his big age will lose him some physical fitness this regards with pace, movement, right decision making on scoring the goals;Black Stars technical crew must look at this matter.Black Stars have lost many Afcon. Cup championships cause of lacking excellent box to box strikers who have good finishing, but they (Black Stars) have an excellent and strong defensive midfield and center back like Cameroon, Senegal , Cote De’Ivore; if Black Stars someday have an excellent box to box strikers I pet you they will win Afcon. Cup of Nations in coming year or years.

Also Super Eagles have lost many Afcon. Cup of Nations cause they have been lacking defensive style from back line to midfield line that means they are lacking agressive and ferocious defensive midfield and center back, if SE someday develop on these line or make overhaul on these lines, I also pet you they will win Afcon. Cup for many times like Egypt have won it 2006,2008,2010.But this needs SE must make an overhaul on SE pattern of play , that means they must put pressing defensive from back line to midfield their priority.
