Harper Set For Getafe Switch

Malaga forward Jack Harper has reportedly signed a pre-contract agreement with Getafe ahead of a summer move.

Former Scotland Under-19 international Harper, who spent time at Real Madrid and Brighton during his youth career, joined Malaga’s B team in 2017 before making the step-up to the senior side in 2018.

The 23-year-old has been an integral first-team member this season, scoring four goals from 21 Segunda appearances, and he has helped the Blanquiazules climb to fourth in Spain’s second tier.

Getafe are believed to have had a £1million offer for Harper rejected in the January window because of his importance to Malaga’s chances of earning promotion to La Liga this term.

It is now being claimed the 23-year-old, whose contract expires in the summer, has signed a pre-contract agreement with Azulones and will move to the Coliseum Alfonso Perez on a free transfer on July 1.

Harper would become the first Scottish player to play in La Liga permanently since Steve Archibald at Barcelona and Ted McMinn at Sevilla, who both left their clubs in 1988.
